Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Carvex Boss Fight Guide – How to Beat, Unlock Psychic Bomb

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Carvex Boss Battle Guide

Like many other games, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has some boss fights. In Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, you will eventually come across Carvex, a large enemy found in the Garden of Remembrance within the Fury Green region. This encounter serves as the game’s second major boss battle. Similar to the fight against Aberax, success here depends on using an ability that Samus unlocks shortly before reaching this area. In this Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Carvex Boss Battle Guide, we will show you how you can defeat this boss quickly.

How to Beat Carvex in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Carvex cannot be damaged right away. You have to do some work. You must first reveal its core, which requires careful handling of its tentacles. At first, this is easy, but as the battle continues and more tentacles appear, the fight can become confusing. The fight with Carvex involves multiple phases. Still, with the right approach, Carvex is not very difficult to beat.

How to Damage Carvex Using Control Beam

Carvex can only take damage after its core is exposed. To do this, you must deal with its tentacles. At the start of the fight, Carvex has one tentacle. But later in the game, it grows two, and then three tentacles. The tentacles regrow very quickly after being destroyed. Because of this, you need a way to destroy all tentacles at the same time. This is where Samus’ newly unlocked Control Beam becomes important.

Using the Control Beam Correctly

To use the Control Beam:

  1. Press X to change themselves to the Psychic Visor.
  2. Hold A or ZR to charge the beam.
  3. Release the button to fire a purple beam.
  4. Control the beam using the right analog stick or motion controls.

Carvex has a weak spot, which is at the center of its every tentacle. You must attack that specific area with the Control Beam. You need to ensure that you hit no walls or obstacles while using the beam. If done correctly, all tentacles will be disabled at once, and Carvex’s core will be revealed. Before using the Control Beam, you must first:

  • Use Samus’ normal blaster to break the outer armor covering each tentacle’s weak spot.
  • Once the spikes are removed, stop shooting.

If you shoot the weak spot too many times, the tentacle will break too early. This causes problems because it will respawn before the others, forcing you to wait and try again.

Carvex fight involves four phases. In each phase, you need to handle the following things:

  • Phase 1: One tentacle.
  • Phase 2: Two tentacles.
  • Phase 3: Three tentacles.
  • Final Phase: Three tentacles plus a wall of vines that the Control Beam must pass through.

As the fight becomes more complex, players must stay calm and carefully guide the Control Beam through every weak spot. While working on the tentacles, Carvex will continue attacking. Move left and right to dodge tentacle swings. You can also jump to avoid its spinning attacks.

Once the core is exposed, the best way to deal damage is by using missiles.

  • Carvex sometimes shoots spinning metal orbs.
  • Destroying these orbs gives you missiles.
  • Charging the Control Beam will also pull nearby missiles and energy pickups toward Samus.

After hitting the core with enough missiles, Carvex will finally be defeated.

Reward for Beating Carvex

After defeating Carvex, you will be rewarded with the Psychic Bomb.
