The Fjordhawk is a pretty useful flying bird in Ark Fjordur, simply because of how friendly it is around you, and how it can help you retrieve all your gear if you die anywhere on the map. This step-by-step guide will show you how to find and tame a Fjordhawk, guaranteeing the inclusion of this animal in your party.
How to Find and Tame a Fjordhawk in Ark Fjordur
The sweet little hawk is a perfect companion out in the wild, where the best thing about it is that it can retrieve all the gear that you might have dropped upon death. No one likes to lose their hard-earned stuff or to walk back to the location to pick up all the leftovers. This is where the Fjordhawk will be a very useful friend.
To find this animal, you first need to go all the way northwest on the map, specifically to these coordinates [Lat: 13.4, Lon: 27.6], where you will more than likely run into these flying birds, commonly found flying in a group of two or three. The best part here is that they give you no trouble, and fly overhead and behind you, looking for you to hunt down an animal so they can feast on the fresh kill.
Every time you kill an animal, these flying hawks will dive down onto the carcass of a dead animal, and devour it in seconds. This exact process is how taming works for the Fjordhawk. Every animal that you kill, will allow the birds to eat, raising their taming process. The bigger the animal, the higher the taming bar will raise.
When you run into a group of Fjordhawks, let them follow you around, and shoot all medium to large animals for the birds to feed upon. You can check the taming bar progress from the game menu, which will also highlight the creature’s level.
Another useful tip in this whole process is that you can scare off the lower-level Fjordhawk so that your choice of bird can eat the dead animals, raising its bar. This is because every Fjordhawk lunges for the food, while the bird that gets the first bite will have its taming bar rise the up the most.
If you can control that, you don’t need to worry too much and continue shooting larger animals and giving plenty of food to the Fjordhawks. Eventually, one of the birds if not all will be tamed, ready to be added as your companion.
