Elden Ring Valiant Gargoyles Boss Guide
This boss fight begins with the first Valiant Gargoyle with the Greatsword when you begin the battle. It is only when you have drained half of the boss’s battle that the other Gargoyle with the Twinblade shows up in support, adding to the challenge.
When fighting the first gargoyle, you have to watch out for a few melee attacks that it hits you with using its sword and when it switches to the axe stored on its back. The boss will occasionally switch between the weapons to mix up its swinging attacks, but will primarily use the sword for relentless slashes.
The best way to take down the gargoyle is to stay close to it and use a weapon that allows you to hit at the boss’s legs and then dodge its swings. The gargoyle will always look to swing, jump back, and then follow up with another attack. This is to maintain its distance so you don’t get close to it. When you are a little far away, watch out for its attack when it charges the sword over its head and then smashes it in front to send a white beam that charges your way. This attack needs to be dodged to the left as the beam slightly begins straight but curves to the right.
When you have depleted half of the first gargoyle’s health, the twinblade gargoyle will join the fight, while both the bosses will use poison while the other attacks you. Instead of attacking both the gargoyles, focus on the first gargoyle so that you have lesser attacks to worry about in the long run.
The Twinblade Gargoyle will use its Twinblade weapon, but also has an axe in its belt that it will switch over from time to time. The temperament of the second gargoyle is pretty much the same as its identical twin, but because of the difference in the weapon, it will use a slightly different attack. One such attack is the whirlwind where the gargoyle spins its twinblade and then sends a windy shockwave around it. This attack needs to be avoided and is best done by dodging away.
Another attack you should watch out for is when it switches to the axe. This begins with a roar, followed by smashing the axe on the ground which sends out a shockwave, dealing damage if you get caught in it. However, this also opens up a great chance to follow up the attack with your own melee hits.
