Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance has just got its release date confirmation and is set to launch on June 22 this year. The co-op action RPG also got its new gameplay trailer, while the studio head over at Tuque Games shared more introduction to the Goblins in the Dark Alliance
Tuque Games studio head, Jeff Hattem shared a lot of details about the upcoming games on the Sony Blogspot. We now know that in Dark Alliance, you along with three of your friends can take the roles of the four most iconic Dungeons & Dragons characters – Drizzt, Cattie-brie, and Wulfgar as you help them fight monsters that have invaded Icewind Dale and search for the Crystal Shard.
Hattem reveals how the game is focused on combat and that each playable character has more than 50 combat abilities that players can master. He also talked about the Emergent Combat system in the game.
We want you to feel powerful in combat from the start. But we’ve also set up plenty to master as you learn the strengths and weaknesses of each of your attacks, abilities, and combos. Our systems allows for button-mashers to do just fine and see their hero mow down enemies in epic fashion. But for players who want a more refined experience, the control is there to do specific guard breaks, executions, team attacks, giving them a sense of the depth of our system.
In the same Blogspot, Hattem revealed the Goblin enemies and the types that players will encounter in Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance. The five Goblin types are:
- Goblin Warriors: front-line fighters with makeshift weapons and armor, focusing on surrounding and distracting you while heavier enemies sneak a devastating attack.
- Goblin Defenders: The tank of the goblins, where their metal armor and shields absorb most attacks while countering you. Breaking their defenses makes them as weak as any smaller goblin.
- Goblin Archers: Long ranged attacking enemies that fire arrows from a distance. They can mix their attacks from normal arrows to arrows with elemental energies.
- Goblin Booyahgs: Magic using goblin horde that rain down a range of elemental damage with their magic abilities.
- Goblin Captains: The toughest of the bunch that not only lead all the other Goblins but also deal the most damage. Taking them out first guarantees all other goblins to lose their will to fight.
