In this Cyberpunk 2077 Stealth Guide, we will guide you on how you can use stealth to your advantage in the game. In some situations, moving around silently and getting some sneaky kills will help you immensely rather than always killing your enemies with head-on confrontations. For this very purpose, you must know all of the basics of stealth in the game and this guide will help you exactly in that.
Stealth Guide – Cyberpunk 2077
Our Cyberpunk 2077 Stealth Guide details everything that you need to know about Stealth in Cyberpunk 2077.
Stealth in Combat
Cyberpunk 2077 gives you open-world freedom of how you want to approach your missions. Every mission does not need to end up in a full-on gunfight between you and your enemies and if you are good at it, you can take out your enemies silently and by staying in the shadows. You can press Circle to crouch and if you are hidden from your enemies, you will see the ends of the screen turn black and your focus will be in the middle of the screen. This means that you are currently hidden from the enemies and you will also sneak around silently instead of running or walking around making a lot of noise.
Tag Enemies
The very first step in making sure that you remain silent is to tag your enemies so that they are always visible to you. Pressing L1 will allow you to enter the scan mode and then aiming at the enemies and pressing R3 will tag the enemies. Now when you exit the scan mode, all of the enemies will still remain visible to you. Tagging will allow you to plan your route ahead and make sure that you do not accidentally bump into an enemy while moving around. Make sure that you find and tag all enemies in an area before you start sneaking around.
Stealth Takedowns
While you are sneaking around, you can follow your enemies around and once you are close to them from the backside, you can press Square to grab them and then either kill them by pressing Square or perform a non-lethal takedown on them by pressing Triangle. In both situations, the enemy will be out of action, giving you a free window.
Hiding Bodies
You are not the only one that will alert your enemies. If you silently take down some enemies and leave their bodies behind, chances are that some other patrolling enemy will find these bodies and will alert the whole area making it harder to sneak around. Hence it is important that you finish the job and always hide the bodies once you have taken them down. You can hide bodies in various containers such as green trash cans or blue wardrobes. Sometimes your enemies will be standing closer to areas where you can automatically eliminate them and hide the bodies at the same time as well. Make sure that you use these opportunities to your advantage.
Security Cameras and Turrets
Apart from normal human enemies and bots, you will also sometimes find security cameras and turrets defending an area. These cannot be fooled as easily as the human enemies as they will trigger alarms and alert nearby enemies of your presence in the area. Hostile cameras will have an orange detection line and friendly cameras will have a green detection line. As long as you remain out of their detection range, you should be good to go even if you spring circles around them. They do not detect sound and only work on visual detection. You can mark them as well.
Higher Level Enemies
Enemies that are higher level than you are marked with a red skull and you cannot grapple them. They will easily escape your grapple and fight back so you cannot just kill them quickly. As you level up in the game, you will become more powerful and stronger to take down these heavies with silent attacks and grappling them with no problems at all.
Distract Your Enemies
You can also use hacking to distract your enemies and have their attention diverted to another area for some time which will give you enough room to sneak around or move in quietly for a kill. You can hack a number of items in the game such as screens, cameras, and even grenades with your enemies to kill them as well.
