Detective Dotson Switch Release Date

Japanese publisher Rainy Frog and Indian developer Masala Games have announced the Nintendo Switch release of their title, Detective Dotson. Already available on PC via Steam, Detective Dotson has managed to capture the charm and chaos of small-town India. The Desi detective and his Bollywood swagger have attracted quite a bit of fan following based on its ‘Very Positive’ review score on Steam. While the PC Steam version of Detective Dotson is self-published by Masala Games, the Nintendo Switch version is coming through Rainy Frog, a Japanese publisher.

Check out the Nintendo Switch Trailer for Detective Dotson:

In the game, you will enter the shoes of Dotson, a normal Indian man who craved the spotlight, but his detective father’s mysterious demise leads him to a detective lifestyle as well. After trading the big screen for an oversized magnifying glass, Detective Dotson seeks out clues behind his father’s death and tries to solve the mystery between Bollywood dance breaks, bargain-happy bazaars, and chase sequences.

As Detective Dotson, you will come across four interconnected cases where each one has its own bizarre twist. As you solve these mysteries, you will become one step closer to the secret behind Dotson’s father’s death. To solve the cases, you will resort to some old-school homework, such as:

  • Talk to quirky townsfolk (some helpful, most nosy).
  • Examine exotic environments for clues.
  • Make deductive leaps in your clue board, which looks suspiciously like a glittery school project.

All of this is experienced through lush 3D backgrounds inspired by small-town India. You will visit markets, dusty roads, rooftop cricket pitches, and Holi festivals. The characters are designed in 2D. The game also features a charming and foot-tapping original soundtrack that really suits the overall vibe of the title.

Detective Dotson is slated for a Nintendo Switch release this fall and is currently available on PC via Steam. Masala Games is an Indian development studio formed by BAFTA-winning and Oscar-winning game developer Shalin Shodhan, known for his work at EA (Spore) and Pixar (Toy Story 3, Brave). The studio comprises world-class game developers dedicated to crafting memorable experiences for players around the world.
