This Resident Evil Requiem Boss Battles Guide details the tips and tricks you need to defeat all bosses and special infected in the game. Throughout Resident Evil Requiem, both Leon and Grace face several dangerous enemies. Each fight plays out differently. Some battles require smart movement and puzzle-like solutions, while others require strong weapons and quick reactions. The game features eight main bosses in total, and knowing how each one behaves can make these fights much easier to survive.
Boss Battle Guide – Resident Evil Requiem
The following are all the bosses that you will encounter in Resident Evil Requiem.
The Girl
Grace encounters The Girl multiple times while exploring the Rhodes Hill Clinic, but these early encounters are more about escaping rather than fighting. During those moments, while searching for the fuse and forklift key, the goal is to stay alive and avoid her. One important detail becomes clear during these encounters: she cannot handle light.
The real fight happens later in the Water Treatment Plant after Grace reaches the lower level to restore power to the hatch controls. You will encounter The Girl there.
A stealthy approach works best at first, but eventually she will track you down. There are floodlights placed around the area that can be switched on to stun her for a short time, giving you a chance to move safely. Beware that these lights remain active for only about 15 seconds and cannot be reused.
You need to start in the Storage section, where the first distribution unit sits beside a stack of barrels. When you reach there, The Girl will knock them, so quickly activate the nearby floodlight and move around her while she is stunned to reach the machine.
After the first unit, go to the Control Room and move through it into the Filing Room. Here you can pick up a Crank Lever from a shelf. Wait until she follows you inside, then slip past her and return to the Control Room to install the lever on the distribution unit there.
The final unit is in the Chemical Treatment area, but it is stuck. You must press it for about ten seconds. Lure The Girl toward the floodlight on the opposite side of the window and quickly circle her while she is stunned. This gives you enough time to activate the machine.
After all three units are working, take the elevator back up. She will chase you again, use the last floodlight to stop her briefly, and activate the hatch switch. You don’t need to waste ammo here. Simply keep your distance and wait until sunlight destroys her.
Chunk
Chunk is the strange creature that roams the clinic hallways and attic. Grace has a way to deal with him. You just need to sneak behind him and then inject three hemolytic injectors. These injectors become available after solving the blood analyzer puzzle. Taking him out this way is useful because it makes the quartz puzzle easier and saves ammunition for Leon later.
If Chunk survives Grace’s section and you don’t kill him there, Leon will fight him later in the attic. When the battle begins, grab the shotgun lying there on the floor and aim for his head and stomach. Extra ammo can be found around the attic if you run low.
The attic has multiple levels connected by yellow ladders. Climb to the upper floor to create distance while he tries to follow. When he climbs after you, shoot his head and hands to knock him down. While he is stunned below, jump down and run toward his head to perform a finishing attack for extra damage.
After you dealt him enough blows, Chunk began leaking blood from the holes in his body. After a short time, he will explode, and the encounter ends.
Titan Spinner
When Leon arrives in Raccoon City, he faces the massive spider known as the Titan Spinner. When the fight starts, you cannot deal much damage, so the best option is to keep moving and avoid its attacks. Keep this resistance until you reach the main boss arena at the top of the building.
Inside this area, the fight becomes more straightforward: Damage him. The creature’s weak spot is the orange cluster on its back, so try to target that whenever possible. The arena also contains ladders that allow you to move to higher platforms, which gives you a little breathing room.
There are also explosive canisters scattered around the room that can stun the boss. However, they do not reappear once used, so save them for clear opportunities.
During the fight, groups of small spiders may swarm you. These can slow you down enough for the main boss to land an attack, so eliminate them quickly with an SMG or grenades.
Sometimes the Titan Spinner climbs the walls using its webs. You can follow its movement by watching the shadow. When it climbs down, take the chance to hit its weak spot with a sniper rifle. After enough damage, the giant spider finally collapses.
Tyrant T-501 (Mr. X)
Tyrant T-501, also known as Mr. X, makes its return in RE 9. You encounter him when he suddenly breaks through a wall. The key thing to remember is that this is not a fight you can win. Instead of wasting ammo, turn around and run back the way you came.
Make your way through the hole that he created in the wall and head right. Mr. X soon smashes another path through the walls, forcing you to change direction again. Keep moving and use the openings he creates to escape each room.
As you continue through the building, climb a damaged staircase and move down the next corridor. When a steel beam crashes through the wall ahead, immediately turn around and sprint back. Enter the side room on the left to avoid the deadly obstacle.
Mr. X will burst through another wall here as well. Run around the rubble in the center of the room and use the new opening he creates to continue forward. Follow the path past the bear statue, and you will finally escape this encounter.
Super Tyrant (T-501)
Later in the story, Mr. X returns in a more powerful form known as the “Super Tyrant”. His weak point is the large, exposed heart in the center of his chest.
You can use the handguns, but they don’t deal much damage, so focus on using stronger weapons like the shotgun or sniper rifle. The fight takes place in an open area with plenty of space to move, with no space for hiding. Instead, use Leon’s parry ability with the hatchet to block his mutated arm attacks.
Occasionally, he will jump onto a car before attacking, and there will be a short pause. This short pause is a perfect moment to fire at his heart. If you deal enough damage, he will fall off and become stunned for a brief time, allowing you to perform a finishing move if you are close enough. If you are far away, use this moment to heal your injuries or change your position. Beware of his dodge attack if you are not able to stun him at that moment.
The Super Tyrant also throws cars across the arena. As soon as he starts lifting one, run and move sideways to avoid being hit. Supplies such as ammo and med injectors can be found around the battlefield if needed, but try not to get trapped while collecting them.
Plant 43
The battle with Plant 43 begins when Leon crosses a bridge covered with huge vines. As the flower buds open, quickly shoot them with a sniper rifle before they can swing toward you. More vines appear as you move forward, so stay alert.
After going down to a lower platform, the real fight starts. Plant 43 mainly attacks by swinging its vines or lunging forward with its mouth. Because the space is narrow, the best strategy is to keep running from one side to the other to avoid being hit.
Like the other bosses, Plant 43 also has a weak spot. Its weak spot is the flower inside its mouth, which opens and closes throughout the fight. Wait until it opens before attacking. Since the window to shoot is short, using an SMG can make it easier to land several hits quickly.
There are also a couple of supply boxes nearby if you need ammo. Breaking them during the fight can be risky, so be careful. Once you have dealt enough blows, the plant thrashes around and knocks over a truck filled with explosive containers. Shooting those containers will burn the creature and end the fight.
The Commander
The battle against The Commander is like a close-range combat. At the start of the fight, both fighters rely heavily on melee attacks. So, parries are very important here, since most of the damage comes from hatchet strikes rather than gunfire.
Whenever Leon kicks him away after blocking an attack, you may have a brief chance to fire a shot. However, the hatchet remains your main weapon during this phase.
Later in the fight, the Commander throws a flash grenade and damages a pipe. This will fill the area with smoke and reduce visibility. Don’t try to move towards him during this time. It is best to let him come to you and respond with quick counterattacks.
If he grabs Leon, a QTE appears. Press the buttons quickly to break free; the attack can be fatal and can result in your death. Because it is difficult to aim precisely in this visibility, relying on your melee weapon, the hatchet, for most of the fight is usually the safer option. Make sure to upgrade the hatchet fully before entering the fight.
Victor (Mutated)
The final boss of the game is Dr. Victor Gideon, who mutates after being infected with the Nemesis virus. This is the toughest encounter in the entire game, so entering the fight with upgraded weapons, plenty of ammo, and strong armor makes a big difference. Your Requiem pistol will also come in handy in this fight.
During the first phase, try to keep your distance from Victor. Although you can parry his melee attacks, staying farther away gives you time to fire at him while he approaches. If you deal enough damage quickly, he can be stunned temporarily.
At certain moments, Victor jumps onto a platform and starts charging purple energy. This gives you roughly ten seconds to attack him freely. Once the energy begins traveling outward, quickly move away from the line to avoid taking damage. He often follows this with a powerful leap attack that creates a large explosion, so keep running until the energy fades.
After a short cutscene, the second phase begins. Victor becomes much larger, but the fight actually becomes easier. In this phase, you don’t need to fire randomly. Aim for the glowing nodules that appear all across his body. You can use an SMG, which works well for destroying them quickly. You can also use grenades to clear several at once.
He can still attack with his large limbs, but these strikes can be parried. He also attempts to grab Leon if you stand too close, so try to keep some distance.
Eventually, Victor will grab Leon during a scripted moment. You can take care of it by following the QTE prompts correctly to deliver the final blow and defeat him.
After defeating all of these bosses, you will have completed the main battles in Resident Evil Requiem.
Special Infected Enemies
In Resident Evil Requiem, you will also run into several dangerous special infected enemies during the story. These enemies behave differently from normal zombies and often require different tactics to deal with them safely.
Blister Heads
One of the most dangerous enemy types you will encounter is the “Blister Head”. These creatures are actually zombies that you already killed earlier in the game. In some cases, defeated/killed zombies can come back later after mutating into this new form.
Once they transform, their behavior becomes much more aggressive. They move faster than normal zombies, and their attacks are less predictable. Their melee strikes also cause greater damage, which makes them far more threatening.
To stop zombies from turning into Blister Heads, you need to destroy their heads or bodies when you defeat them. There are several ways to do this while playing.
Grace can use her Hemolytic Injector, which contains a special mixture that causes a zombie to explode. However, this can only be used in certain situations. Grace must either sneak up behind the enemy, stagger them first, or use it when they are already knocked down.
Leon has another method with his Hatchet. When he staggers an enemy, he can kick them toward a wall or object. During this time, he can swing the hatchet to remove their head and prevent them from mutating later.
Some powerful weapons can also destroy enemies instantly. High-caliber guns like the Requiem or the Sniper Rifle have enough power to destroy a zombie’s head.
Singers
Singers are another special infected that appear during Grace’s section of the game. At first glance, they look similar to regular zombies, but they have a unique ability. These enemies scream, which disorients Grace and makes it harder for her to aim properly.
Chainsaw Charlies
The Chainsaw Charlies, also called Chainsaw Men, are classic enemies that carry a chainsaw as their weapon. These enemies are extremely dangerous and can kill Leon very quickly if you are not careful.
Some of them attack, which can slice Leon from shoulder to torso or even cut him in half. Others may have a chainsaw stuck through their body and will try to charge forward to damage him.
Even when these are knocked down, they can still pose a threat. If the chainsaw is still running, the zombie may continue sliding forward along the ground while the blade spins wildly.
Sometimes, you may even encounter a chainsaw that is still active on the ground after the zombie holding it is defeated. If you get too close while it is spinning, it can injure Leon.
Garmr
Garmr are mutated dogs that appear during Leon’s journey through Raccoon City. They are larger and stronger than the Cerberus dogs seen in earlier games.
Leon encounters these creatures while moving between different parts of the city. Leon can use a submachine gun to defend himself while groups of Garmr chase after him.
Lickers
The Lickers return once again in Resident Evil Requiem. They usually crawl along the ground or climb on walls. One of their main attacks is a fast leap, which can be countered if you have a Knife or Hatchet ready.
They also have a long-range tongue attack that lashes out suddenly. You can use Leon’s parry to parry this move with his Hatchet. When you do this, it will complete the “Cat Got Your Tongue” challenge in the game.
