Moss Mother is the very first boss that you will encounter in Hollow Knight: Silksong. This is not a very tough fight, but it gives you a fair idea of how boss battles work in the game. You will encounter this boss in Ruined Chapel, right after your very first bench. Go up from the bench and enter the next room, where you will encounter the Moss Mother. Reach the end of the arena, and it will trigger the boss battle with the boss coming down from the top of the arena. Moss Mother Boss Battle Guide – Hollow Knight: Silksong
Moss Mother has a very simple attack pattern, and you can beat her fairly easily. She flies high in the air, but when she wants to attack you, she will aim out her stinger and do a swooping attack. At this point, you can just jump above her to dodge this attack. Make sure your jump is timed right to avoid getting hit by the attack. While she is flying back up, make sure to jump up and land a hit or two. Back on the ground, look for her next approach and repeat this process.
Between these dive attacks, she will sometimes scream and perform a sweeping attack where there is no specific direction, and it is much higher than her normal dives, giving you even less time for jumping. You can land your own dive attack at this point, but if you want to play it safe, you can just jump over her and try to hit her after the attack has finished. Keep hitting her, and she will eventually slam into the roof of the arena. This will cause two or three rocks to fall down, but you can see where the rocks will fall from by a stream of light coming from the drop point.
Keep attacking her, and she will get stunned. At this point, you can land 2, 3 additional hits before she regains her consciousness. Keep following this strategy for this next phase as well, and when she is stunned, land some more hits, and she will be defeated. Between some of the slams, instead of rocks, her minions will fall down, so you will need to deal with them as well. These are the smallest of the enemies, so you do not have to worry much about them being in the arena.
