Sony has just released an 18 minute Ghost of Tsushima gameplay video at the State of Play live stream. The broadcast featured a lot of gameplay information starting from exploring Tsushima, stealth, and combat.
Sucker Punch Productions and their developers gave out an extended look into the game that is releasing exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on July 17.
Check out the Ghost of Tsushima gameplay video below:
The gameplay video begins first and foremost with the exploration in the game. Given that the open-world of Tsushima looks absolutely beautiful, Sucker Punch has done it justice by making exploration look clean and stunning without any cluster of maps or distractions.
One of the gameplay elements in regards to exploration lets you call out a small gust of wind to point at the direction you are supposed to go. As opposed to marked objective trackers in any typical open-world games, Ghost of Tsushima brings out the natural elements like the wind to not only guide you to the direction you must go but also look beautiful in the process.
Another feature of exploration is how animals can guide you to hidden places. We can see a fox guiding Jin to a nearby hidden shrine. Jin is revealed to be the protagonist who the players will be controlling in Ghost of Tsushima.
Following exploration, we immediately get into the action with Jin’s combat and stealth abilities in the game. Combat in the game is unsurprisingly inspired by samurai movies, where we usually see one on one combat. Battles against enemies can also be done in two ways, where you can face them honorably, or go into stealth mode to assassinate each and every target, by sneaking around on roofs and sing grappling hook to get around.
Finally, another feature, which might not sound much, but will be highly appreciated is that the game will have the option of playing the entire game with a fully subtitled Japanese voice track. In addition, there is also an option to choose a black and white filter to bring out the cinematic features of a signature samurai movie.
