Beginner’s Guide – Warhammer: Chaosbane
Our Warhammer: Chaosbane Beginners Guide details everything that you need to know about playing Warhammer: Chaosbane for the first time.
Choose Your Class Carefully
Right when you start the game for the first time, you will need to create a character from four of the available classes. These classes are Human, Slayer(Dwarf), High Elf(Mage) and Wood Elf(Hunter). Each of these four classes is completely unique with their own skill trees and moves. Each class also requires a different play style so it is vital that for your first playthrough, you choose a class to which you are most comfortable with.
You can start a new game with each of the four characters right from the start and try each class for the first initial levels. Practice around with their moves and their initial skills will give a good idea on what to expect from their higher level skills. Most of the time, you will be unlocking better versions of the originally unlocked skills so you can easily determine which class is for you.
Human is the easiest class to start the game with. It comes equipped with a shield and sword and is the most all-rounder class out of all of them featuring decent attack with good defense. Slayer is best played as a tank as he can absorb lots of damage but lacks in attack. High Elf is your class if you prefer a DPS class as he is excellent at dealing damage from a safe distance. Wood Elf plays like a hunter and is the most agile character in the game as she is on the move continuously.
Develop Your Build Using Skill Trees
Skill Trees are very important to understand in Warhammer: Chaosbane because your character will be built around these skills. Without these skills, you can forget about clearing a single level in the game using only the basic attack move. You will find two primary skill trees which include Active Skills and then there are Passive Skills. You can equip 6 Active Skills which are mostly offensive and are used in combat like attack moves.
Passive Skills are on the other hand passive and will give you different bonuses such as increased HP or stamina regeneration boost. You will need to pick these skills from the Skill Trees. Your initial skills will not cost you any skill points but as you unlock better versions of these skills, you will need to have skill points to equip them and you can only equip a certain number of skills in the game based on your skill points.
This is the point where builds come into play. You will need to sacrifice a certain aspect in your character and build on a specific aspect. Such as you can build a character that boasts exceptional damage dealing but will lack in defense. Or you can have a tank that can take loads of punishment but will lack when it comes to damage. You will need to tinker around with these skills and find the best match of skills to create the best build according to your own playstyle.
Explore Maps Completely
The maps in Warhammer: Chaosbane are somewhat limited when it comes to exploration but there are always paths away from the main campaign that will hide some chests with some amazing loot. As you are following the main quest markers, when you are about to leave after completing the main mission, you must always go back and explore each and every path that you missed in the game earlier.
Sometime you will need to complete certain missions within a stipulated time. During such missions, avoid all extra exploration and focus on the mission. But once you have completed the mission and the time limitation is gone, make sure to go back and explore all the extra parts and slay all the demons that you let behind for some bonus XP and gold. You will always find the best loot hidden in paths away from the main quest so make sure you explore each map thoroughly before exiting it.
Save Your Bloodlust for Later
Your Bloodlust is the ultimate ability that you will gain after clearing the first few initial mission in the main story. You will charge it with the red orbs and once it is ready, you can unleash your ultimate ability for some ultimate demon slaying carnage. However, you must use this ability everywhere you can kill enemies easily with normal skill attacks. If you have been building a proper character, very few instances will get to the point that your health will drop below half.
However, there will be some instances where the Chaos forces will unleash absolute hell on you and you will not be able to cope with them with your normal attacks no matter how good of a player are you. During these times, you will need to use your Bloodlust ability which will make you an absolute beast and you will be mowing down even the toughest of the Chaos spawn in no time. Make sure you always have it saved for times like these.
Remember to Heal
There is no auto-heal in Warhammer: Chaosbane however there is a handy health potion that works just like any other skill with a cooldown timer. On the consoles, it is assigned to L1/LB by default so every time when your health is low and you are about to die, you can simply press this button to heal your health back to full. It will also cure any status buffs on you such as poison and Chaos forces have a nasty habit of poisoning you every now and then. Once used, it will enter a cooldown timer so you must be very careful with its use. It is always in your inventory but the cooldown timer ensures that you cannot abuse it to make the game easy.
In addition, you must keep an eye on your health in battles. Sometimes you will completely forget about healing while you are engaged in battles especially during ambushes and when they try to flood you in with their numbers. At these points, there is so much going on the screen that you forget about your health and you die if your health reaches zero. Remember to heal yourself during battles to stay longer in the fight.
Equip Better Items On the Go
As you explore the maps and slay down forces of Chaos wave after wave, you will get better and better gear. Make sure that you open your inventory and equip the better items because there is no auto-equip best item option in the game. You will need to manually equip the new better items in the game.
Due to the effective UI of the game, this process is very smooth and you can instantly tell which item is better so make sure that you use this effective UI to your advantage and always switch to better items on the go. This will ensure that your character remains competitive against many difficult enemies in the game.
Destroy Barrels to Keep Your Charges
Barrels are not just for show and adding some props to each level. They will give you gold and most importantly, they will increase your energy and make sure that it remains full even if there are no enemies around. You will need to break every barrel that you see in the map as most will simply drop gold for you while keeping your energy and charges full until you can find more enemies to kill.
Your skills will require energy to execute so you want to be full when you come across enemies. If you are out of combat for some time, your energy will continue to drop and it will eventually make you unable to execute skills unless after you hit certain enemies in the game. Barrels are an excellent source of keeping your energy charged and your skills ready to be executed at the first sight of the enemy.
