Steam Workshop Integration Arrives in Emperor of the Fading Suns Enhanced

Emperor of the Fading Suns Enhanced Steam Workshop

Developer Holistic Design, Inc. and publisher V Publishing have announced that the Steam Workshop Integration is now live in Emperor of the Fading Suns Enhanced. This was one of the most community-requested features, and it is now available in the game. With the new update in place, you can now discover, install, and play mods easily, and it empowers both longtime fans and new modders to reshape the Known Worlds according to their liking. To gain access to the new modding features, all you need to do is update your game to its latest version.

While booting the game, you will now see a new launcher, which will give you the option to start the base game or the new Enhanced Launcher. If you choose the launcher, it unlocks a dedicated Mods menu which allows you to browse locally installed mods, mods that ship with the game, and mods available through the Steam Workshop. From this menu, you can manage mods easily. You can choose a mod, hit play, and jump into a brand-new version of the galaxy. You will also find access to the Map Editor in this launcher.

By default, you will find two mods in the Enhanced Edition. Legacy creates the classic 1.4 version of Emperor of the Fading Suns using the Enhanced framework. It preserves the original experience but delivers it through modern improvements. The second mod is Phoenix, created by a veteran community modder, and it offers a fresh take on the universe and showcases the true potential of the new modding tools. There is one hiccup, however, that if you start the game with a mod, you will need to quit the game and restart it to access the base game or try out another mod.

The mod support is also available to GOG players, with the same one-click mod launcher. They lack the Workshop-style browsing, but everything else works exactly the same. Key update highlights include:

  • Steam Workshop Integration: Browse, install, and play community-created mods directly from the new Enhanced Launcher.
  • New Game Launcher: Seamlessly switch between the base game, mods, and the Map Editor.
  • Included Mods: Play the classic Legacy experience or explore Phoenix, a new community-created mod.
  • Expanded Modding Support: Continued support for one of strategy gaming’s longest-running modding communities.

Emperor of the Fading Suns Enhances is now available on PC via Steam and GOG, along with Linux platforms. You can also download and try a free demo for the game before committing fully through its official Steam page.
