Combat Guide – Ninjala
Our Ninjala Combat Guide details everything that you need to know about combat in Ninjala including some basic and advances mechanics and how to get better at them.
Master the Parry
You cannot consider getting good at playing Ninjala until you master how to parry your enemy attacks. This happens when you and your enemies attack each other with the same attack. During a parry, you must push L up, left/right, or down to unleash one of the three available attacks to you. The three attacks work in a cycle and each attack cancels out certain attacks like in a game of rock/paper/scissors. Here, the order is:
- Normal Attack (Push Up) – Defeats Wide Attacks
- Back Attack (Push Left/Right) – Defeats Normal Attacks
- Wide Attack (Push Back) – Defeats Back Attacks
This is mostly based on luck and depending on what presses what, the powerful attack will overcome the other attack and will emerge victorious at the end of the parry. After you have landed a successful parry, follow that with a powerful attack combo and you will defeat your opponent to earn an IPPON.
Evade the Parry
If you do not feel like taking part in the parry, when it begins, quickly press the L button and you will spend S-Energy to escape from the parry. This will give you plenty of time to come back to fight in with some reinforcements or simply want to acquire a better position. Use this mechanic wisely and you will easily turn the tide of the battle.
Upgrade your Weapon
However, if your weapon is bigger than your opponents, you will win the parry even if you use the same attack against each other. You must always upgrade your weapon so that it stays more powerful than the competition. You can do so destroying drones, boosting S-Energy, and then upgrading your main weapon because the bigger weapon will always emerge victorious in a parry.
Avoid Other Players in Parry
While you are moving around and see two other players locked in Parry, stay away from them because once the parry is over, it will unleash a powerful shock wave that will damage you and push you away from them. Only interfere with a parry if you have the Gum Ninjutsu equipped.
Use S-Bursts to Draw Opponents into a Parry
When an opponent is about to land an attack on you, you can quickly unleash an S-Burst with the ZL button that will allow you to enter the Gum Guard mode. During this phase, if your opponent attacks you again, you will parry the attack however if your opponent uses a Break Attack in the middle of the S-Burst, you will be Gum Bound which is when you become trapped in gum and are unable to move around. You should also make sure that you have plenty of S-Energy because an S-Burst will consume 5 bars of S-Energy.
Use Break Attacks to Bind Your Opponents
Counter move for the last tip, when your opponent is guarding themselves with the bubble, you can land a Break Attack and trap them in the gum. Simply press R near them and you will land a Break Attack on your opponent that will burst their bubble and they will become stuck in the gum. This will give you an opportunity to finish them off and earn an IPPON.
Practice in the Training Mode
If you want to practice all of these moves and attacks, you can head over to the Training Mode and practice as much as you want. Learn all these moves, practice them, master them, and then head over to the main event to dominate the competition.
