Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Energy Tanks Guide – Where to Find, Maximum Health

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Energy Tanks Guide

Energy Tanks are one of the most important collectibles in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, as each one permanently increases Samus’ maximum health. While some Energy Tanks are obtained naturally during story progression, many are hidden behind optional paths or puzzles. It is important to note that you do not need to collect the Energy Tanks in any sequence, but some of them require you to have some abilities unlocked before picking them up. In this Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Energy Tanks Guide, we will show you how to collect all Energy Tanks easily.

Energy Tanks Locations Guide – Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

There are 14 Energy Tanks available in the game. Each one increases Samus’ health bar. All of them are detailed below:

Energy Tank 1 – UTO Research Center

You will automatically find your first Energy Tank during the game’s opening section. While moving through a Morph Ball passage in the UTO Research Center, this Energy Tank is placed directly along the path and cannot be missed.

Energy Tank 2 – Fury Green (Cliffside Gate)

After acquiring the Psychic Glove in Fury Green, look for a door that requires two motes to unlock. Past the door is a sealed container. Activate the Psychic Visor and trace the pattern on it to open the container, and you will see an Energy Tank lying in there. Collect the Energy Tank.

Energy Tank 3 – Volt Forge

As you progress through Volt Forge, you will face Sylux for the first time. You need to defeat him. After defeating him, the game rewards you with an Energy Tank automatically, so no extra exploration is required here.

Energy Tank 4 – Ice Belt (Power Generator Room)

In the Ice Belt, there is a Power Generator Room. Head to the Power Generator room and use the Control Beam to restore power by running the generator. After that, interact with the nearby terminal to open a section of the floor. Follow the newly revealed path, using Morph Ball bombs where needed, to reach the Energy Tank. Collect it and put it in your arsenal.

Energy Tank 5 – Sol Valley (Ladder of Thought Shrine)

There is a Ladder of Thought Shrine, located on the west of Sol Valley and just below the Ice Belt. Use Fire Shot to access the Ladder of Thought Shrine. Completing the platform challenge inside, burn the web next to the exit using Fire Shot. From there, use a double bomb jump in Morph Ball form to enter a hidden tunnel. This tunnel will then lead you to the Energy Tank.

Energy Tank 6 – Sol Valley (Ring of Thunder Shrine Area)

Ring of Thunder Shrine is in the northwest of Flare Pool. Travel to the Ring of Thunder Shrine, but do not go inside. Instead, inspect the back of the statue nearby. Use the Psychic Glove to open a hidden compartment, and it will reveal the Energy Tank. Collect it.

Energy Tank 7 – Flare Pool (Storage Room)

Inside the Storage Room at Flare Pool, you will notice a large floating orb. You need to activate the Psychic Visor and trace the pattern on the orb. Doing so will unlock the Energy Tank hidden inside.

Energy Tank 8 – Volt Forge

Later in the game, after you get Psychic Grapple, you will return to Volt Forge and encounter Sylux again. Defeating him a second time rewards you with another Energy Tank.

Energy Tank 9 – Fury Green (Rods of Transference)

Once you have access to Fire Shot, Ice Shot, and Thunder Shot, visit the Rods of Transference area in Fury Green near the base camp. There, you will need to solve three puzzles. Solving all three elemental puzzles in the area will reward you with an Energy Tank that will appear in front of a nearby statue.

Energy Tank 10 – Sol Valley (Tower Near Volt Forge)

Near the entrance to Volt Forge, there is a tall tower holding an Energy Tank. Fire a Thunder Shot into the opening near the base of the structure to unlock access and grab the collectible.

Energy Tank 11 – Ice Belt (Ice Canyon)

After unlocking Psychic Grapple, return to Ice Belt and then go to Ice Canyon, the windy zone with chains and platforms. There, you need to use the Psychic Visor to activate grapple points, swing across the gap, and reach the platform containing the Energy Tank. And this will get you your 11th Energy Tank.

Energy Tank 12 – Great Mines (Mine Shaft Level 2)

In Mine Shaft – Level 2, activate the bridge using Boost Ball. Then use the Psychic Visor to reveal Psychic Platforms beside the bridge. Jump across these platforms to reach the Energy Tank above.

Energy Tank 13 – Flare Pool (Volcano Heart)

Return to Volcano Heart, the same arena where you previously fought Phenoros. Near the entrance, shoot the small container resting on a rock to release the Energy Tank. A creature will steal it. You need to defeat the creature to recover the tank.

Energy Tank 14 – Great Mines (Chasm Tunnel, Level 3)

With Psychic Power Bomb unlocked, drop from Mine Level 2 down to Level 3 using the Pit. Move forward to the Main Nest Tunnel and destroy the blocked Gibardaum Ore wall using a Power Bomb. Burn the web beyond with Fire Shot to access a Morph Ball tunnel. Inside, use Boost Ball, Tether Nodes, and a double bomb jump to reach the Energy Tank at the top of the half-pipe.

Many Energy Tanks are locked behind specific upgrades, so it is normal if you can’t grab everything on your first visit to an area. However, collecting all 14 Energy Tanks will significantly improve Samus’ survivability and make the toughest encounters much more manageable.
