Intel Iris Xe Graphics Spotted With 1.65 GHz GPU Clock

Intel Xe-HPG DG2 Performance

A leaked benchmark from Sisoftware database shows an Intel Iris Xe graphics running GPU at 1.65 GHz. Intel has planned to release the Xe GPU lineup along with its Tiger Lake CPUs this week. The first of the Xe GPU lineup will provide almost twice the performance as compared to the previous generation Iris GPUs featured on Ice Lake CPUs.

The benchmark, discovered by @TUM_APISAK showed the unreleased Iris Xe integrated GPU running at 1650 MHz . Intel’s Iris Xe GPUs in the fastest stock configuration will feature a clock speed of 1300 MHz, with the discrete variant clocking up to 1550 MHz. The Sisoftware benchmark showed the GPU running at 1650 MHz with 26% overclock.

The new benchmarks show Iris Xe Graphics with 768 ALUs and was running on a Tiger Lake 28W CPU. The clock speeds when compared to the Vega GPUs which are featured on AMD’s Renoir APUs are slightly lower.

The Vega GPU on the Renoir APUs clocks up to 2100 MHz but can be overclocked up to 2300-2400 MHz which is about a 10-15% jump. But the Vega GPU has lesser cores than Intel’s Iris Xe GPUs which results in better performance for the Iris Xe GPUs.

The Tiger Lake CPUs will be manufactured on the Intel 10nm SuperFin process which allows them to reach 14nm-level clocks along with other major architectural improvements. Tiger lake will use Willow cove cores which doubles the bandwidth and shifts to a double ring architecture. Tiger Lake processors will also ship with the first Xe iGPU, which is capable of achieving 2.6 teraflops of performance.

This level of performance tables the Iris Xe GPU above desktop discrete GPUs like GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or the Radeon RX 5300M mobility graphics cards. The Tiger Lake CPUs are scheduled to be released on 2nd September.
