Nezarec is the final God of Pain in Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares raid, who comes after you have beaten Zo’Aurc, Explicator of Planets. Nezarec waits for you in the last area of the raid and will feature the same mechanics you found earlier in the raid, specifically in the Cataclysm and Scission encounters.
How to Beat Nezarec in Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares Raid
The fight with Nezarec involves team play where players will have set roles on fighting the ads that show up alongside the boss, while other players focus on activating the light and dark nodes that are tied to the buff. Two different players should be assigned the roles to individually activated the Flux of Darkness node and the Field of Light Node for the buff.
When the fight begins, one of the players in the team should distract Nezarec by shooting at his shoulder and revealing orange or blue weak points, allowing them to distract the boss from other players for ten seconds. However, since the boss is quite powerful, other players on the team shouldn’t let the boss take on one player and try to step in to reduce the overall damage achieved by the attackers.
Nezarec will also emit different lights, which will indicate the buff that players need in order to survive the wipe. The orange light indicates that you need the Darkness Refuge Buff, while the blue light means that you need the Light Refuge buff. If the light coming off from Nezarec is blue, shoot at the Light node when you are in the effect of the Flux of Darkness buff.
On the other hand, if the light emitted by the boss is orange, you will need the Dark Refuge buff by shooting at the dark node, while being in the effect of the Field of Light buff. This process of lighting up all the nodes is to lead up to the damage phase where you can then begin damaging the boss to end the raid.
The boss does not have a ton of health in the fight, and you can take advantage by standing on the Wards of Dawn and the Wells of Radiance platforms, shooting with any weapon that deals moderate to high amounts of damage. The fight with Nezarec can finish very quickly if there are set roles for each player, where two players focus on the nodes, while the others take on the smaller enemies that show up to accompany the boss.
