Hollow Knight: Silksong is no different, and with the game now officially out, dedicated fans are creating different mods that can assist you in various ways on your journey. Whether you want to become invincible, get double Rosary Beads, or just want to have some fun with respawning anywhere on the map, there is a mod for you. This Hollow Knight: Silksong Mods Guide lists some handy mods for the game, along with how you can install them.

How to Install Mods in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Before you can use mods in the game, you must set up your game’s Steam client so that it can handle the mods without any issues. For this purpose, you will need to use BepInEx 5 with Configuration Manager. It is available through NexusMods. The BepInEx 5 framework is required to play all mods for Hollow Knight: Silksong and also includes the configuration manager mod for in-game config changes.

It works for Windows x64, Linux, and macOS, although you will need to do some tinkering for Linux and macOS.

How to Install BepInEx 5 on Windows:

  • Go to Hollow Knight: Silksong in your Steam Client and right-click on it to open the menu, and then follow with Manage>Browse Local Files
  • Download the .zip file for BepInEx 5 from NexusMods and open it
  • Drag all files from the archive to the Hollow Knight: Silksong folder that Steam opened for you
  • Start the game, go to the menu, and exit
  • Now, check the Hollow Knight: Silksong folder once again and go inside the BepInEx folder. There should be two brand-new folders inside it called Plugins and Config. These two folders show that BepInEx 5 is working properly, and you are now ready to install mods to the game.
  • Inside the game, you can press F1 to bring up the configuration menu, and it will allow you to change the value of plugin settings.
  • If you encounter any sort of issue, you can check out and troubleshoot it through BepInEx 5’s official GitHub page.
  • Linux (Proton) users will need to set some launch arguments: Set launch args in Steam to: WINEDLLOVERRIDES=”winhttp=n,b” %command%

Now that you have installed the requirements, you are ready to use the mods you need for Hollow Knight: Silksong. You can place any mod’s DLL file inside the Plugins folder, and it should be available to use in the game. It is also important to note here that using mods does not affect game achievements.

Best Mods for Hollow Knight: Silksong

Always Have Compass

This mod ensures that you always have a compass in the game, and that too without sacrificing a slot on your crest. This mod allows you to see yourself even if you do not have the map for the area.

Show Damage Health Bar

This handy mod will allow you to see how much health the boss has at the current moment. By default, the game does not show any sort of health bars or damage numbers, and it is always a guess on how much fight is left, but with this handy mod, you will always know how much health bar is left.

It will also show how much damage you are dealing to the boss with every hit. It works on normal enemies as well. With the configurator, you can also customize the color and font of the numbers and health bar to your liking.

Always Have Magnet Effect

With this mod, all currency will be attracted to you, and you will never lose another Rosary Bead to those dreaded spike pits. This mod works with both Rosary Beads and Shards, so once this mod is active, the drops will be pulled towards you instead of away from you.

Stakes of Marika – Rebirth Anywhere

Another handy mod, with this mod active, if you die, you will respawn at the start of the scene instead of at the bench, saving you tons of backtracking and time. Apart from the default setting, you can also alter the respawn point and choose a custom one instantly. If you have selected a custom waypoint, you will always respawn at this specific point if you die.

For custom respawn points, install the game and start it. On the screen, when you want to select a custom respawn point, press L3+R3 on controllers or F8 on a keyboard. If you are stuck in a location, pressing F10 will kill you and remove all custom respawn points. You will respawn at the nearest bench after this.

No Double Damage From Enemies

With this mod active, the enemies will only deal a single mask damage to you. You should note that this mod only reduces double damage to single from enemies and not environmental hazards or traps. They will still deal double damage.

Double Rosary Beads

This mod will increase the amount of Rosary Beads you collect by double. When this mod is active, all Rosary Beads, whether they drop from enemies or you find them in the world, will give you double their value, making it easier for you to purchase Fast Travel locations, Benches, and items from vendors.

Invincible Mod

Finally, if you have given up entirely on Hollow Knight: Silksong due to its difficulty, this mod will certainly breathe fresh air for you because it will remove all sorts of hit detection in the game. In simpler words, you will not take any damage from any sources, and you will never die. This includes both hazards and enemies.

How to install and use:

Using this mod is a little different because instead of BepInEx 5, it requires MelonLoader 0.7.0. This is already included in the mod file that you will download from above. To install it:

  • Extract the zip file and copy everything into the root folder of Hollow Knight: Silksong. These should be the folder MelonLoader and the version.dll file. Both will go into the root folder. If you do not know how to open the root folder, use this: Go to Hollow Knight: Silksong in your Steam Client and right-click on it to open the menu, and then follow with Manage>Browse Local Files. This is the root folder where you need to copy everything that came with the zip file.
  • Inside this same folder, create a brand-new folder called Mods.
  • Copy the InvincibleMod.dll inside this folder, and you are good to go.

How to use Mod:

Now that the mod is installed, you can start your saved file and press F1 to activate or disable the mod. Happy playing!
