To get Fish Bait you first need to get the Manila Clam. These can be found on the edges of your island at the beaches. On the sand, you will occasionally spot small holes squirting out water as you walk past them. These are the Manila Clams that you have to dig out using your Shovel.

This will give you the DIY recipe to craft Fish Bait. Now head over to any workshop to craft the Fish Bait so you can be one step closer in catching rare fishes. To start using Fish Bait, you first have to go to any fishing spot near the water. Now go to your inventory and select the Fish Bait, and then “Scatter Food” option. This will instantly attract and bring out fishes near you.

Fish Bait does not attract rare fishes alone, as any common fish will hurry to the location where you scattered the food. Catching rare fishes still requires luck and a lot of grinding before you can catch one. You can further increase your chances of catching rare fishes like the Ceolecanth, which only appears when it is raining. Using Fish Bait will allow you to catch them when they get near your location.
