FBC: Firebreak Announces Details of First Major Update Breakpoint, Features New Content and Tons of Changes

FBC: Firebreak Breakpoint

Remedy Entertainment has announced Breakpoint, the latest major update patch for FBC: Firebreak, arriving September 29. Breakpoint is a free update and the first major update for FBC: Firebreak post-launch. It brings much-needed system overhauls, new content, and many quality-of-life fixes. It will be available for free on all platforms and marks the first update in a series of upcoming updates scheduled to arrive over the next few months. The next update is coming in November, and then another in March 2026.

The new features arriving in FBC: Firebreak in the Breakpoint update include:

  • Crisis Board – The Crisis Board replaces the Job Board, presenting playable, curated content in a new way. With this new overhaul, players can easily track the various Crises that appear at different levels around the Oldest House, offering a larger variety of fun gameplay and utilizing level content better than ever.
  • Enhanced Gameplay Loop – Each Crisis has more variety than what came before, making FBC: Firebreak more dynamic, less predictable, and closer to the first-responder fantasy at the heart of the game.
  • An Improved Onboarding Experience – Remedy is making changes to the new player experience, making it easier to understand the core mechanics and to eliminate previous barriers to entry. This includes a new playable tutorial called “Orientation”, an introduction video which helps set the scene, and Job overview videos, which help players learn about each Crisis.
  • New Content – Outbreak – A brand-new Crisis (formerly Job), which is set in the Research sector of the Oldest House. Firebreakers must research and contain a dangerous mold cluster while battling new enemies. The update also adds three new guns, grenades, cosmetics, and much more.
  • Gun Improvements – A completely new feature in Breakpoint is the Gun Mod system. Gun Mods have modifiers that make guns more powerful or change their functionality. Each gun has three mod slots, giving you new options for customizing your arsenal.
  • And Much More! – Players will notice improvements from top to bottom, including the way FBC: Firebreak communicates to players, such as improved visual communication of harmful conditions to help players better understand their surroundings and what causes damage.

FBC: Firebreak Breakpoint

While this is certainly a welcome patch for FBC: Firebreak, this is not actually the first post-launch update for the game. Back in June, Remedy released the first update for the game, which made it easier for new players to start the game, given its launch version lacked a clear tutorial for players who were just starting with the game.

FBC: Firebreak is currently available on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. We reviewed the PC Steam release of FBC: Firebreak upon its launch, and despite some issues, we generally had a fun time with the game. The recent reviews of the game have also climbed to Mostly Positive, which is a sign that the developers are heading in the right direction, post-launch.
