Forza Horizon 4 is the newest upcoming racing game by Playground Games, which is set in UK. Forza Horizon is part of Microsoft’s Xbox exclusive arcade racing game franchise Forza Horizon that is one of the best racing games out there without any doubt. This is the fourth title in the franchise and it looks absolutely amazing.
Forza Horizon 4 was announced during the Microsoft’s E3 2018 conference and since then, the developers have been releasing more and more information about the game. The game easily looks like the racing game of the year so far with no strong contender to go against it.
It is less than a week away so we decided to go online, find each and every detail about the it and consolidate them in one single place for you to read. So here it is, your Everything you need to know about Forza Horizon 4 guide in which we will discuss all major elements of the upcoming racing game Forza Horizon 4.
This time around, Forza Horizon 4 will take us to UK as the game is based there. The map of Forza Horizon 4 is bigger than any previous Forza Games and it looks amazing. Each section of the map brings something new to the players. The dynamic weather proves even more useful here because you will be able to access certain areas only in certain weather conditions.
We are no longer the owner of the Forza Festival. This time around, we are again joining the Forza Festival as a rookie driver who has to start at the bottom and then make his/her way to the top of the festival ranks.
The game will feature Forza Horizon 3 type festival sites around the map where players will be able to mod their cars, buy new cars and avail other festival services such as the auction house. The main campaign of the game is spread across four different seasons and each season brings new events and challenges for the players.
Completing these story based missions will eventually unlock new races and side activities in the game and will then mark your position in the Horizon Festival. You can play the main campaign solo or in co-op with a friend similar to Forza Horizon 3.
Visually, Forza Horizon 4 looks amazing and it is indeed the best looking Forza game ever made. It is even more beautiful because it was made while keeping Xbox One X and PC in mind and not the standard Xbox One console, which are both powerful machines and the game, will really test out the capabilities of your PCs.
The game also looks visually amazing on the Xbox One X console and the developers have introduced two visual modes for playing on Xbox One X. If you prefer frames to quality, then you can opt for the performance mode, which will play the game in 60fps but in 1080p. If you want 4K experience, you can switch to Quality mode, which will play the game in 4K but at solid 30fps. This shows that the game is highly optimized and even Xbox One X will be able to give solid 60fps for it. On PC, you can easily get 4K, 60fps if your PC meets the recommended requirements.
The game also has low system requirements as compared to previous Forza games so it also shows that Forza Horizon 4 is much better optimized than previous Forza titles. Overall the game looks very pretty and each season in the game and the dynamic day and night cycle, everything looks gorgeous in the game.
Playground Games have refined the gameplay a lot in Forza Horizon 4. They have been listening to Forza community and have tried to implement their feedback as much as possible in the game. The handling feels crisp, even more refined than the previous Forza Horizon 3 game and players feel much more in control of the cars this time around.
All different game modes are making a return in Forza Horizon 4 such as drifting sections, crazy jumps, races, championships and bucket lists. These modes have been made better such as while drifting in sections, the traffic now becomes invisible so that you can drift easily without crashing in them.
This was a big problem for players back then. No traffic in drift sections mean even higher scores to beat this time around. This makes completing side activities much easily as a lot of work has been done after listening to fan feedback.
The menu of the game have been worked on as well. Gone are the days of laggy Forza menus. The new menu style of Forza Horizon 4 is very cool to look at, yet very simple and most importantly, not laggy at all. Switching between menu screens and choosing a new car is very easy and fast now.
The open world looks amazing and as the game features dynamic weather, each weather directly affects the handling of your vehicle. This adds to the challenge as you try to adjust to each weather’s special driving requirements. Tons of new modification items have also been added to the game including special Drag Radials.
We also have a dedicated drag strip in the game this time around so players can take part in drag races at the strip. Previously, players used to enter in drag races at the airport where the airport runway was used as a drag strip but this time, players will have a special dedicated drag strip to unleash their drag monsters.
For the first time ever, players will be able to purchase their own properties in the game as well. This is a big feature which was first featured in Test Drive Unlimited but now we have it in Forza Horizon 4 as well so we will not be just roaming around the map like a lost soul. We will have our own home where we can crash when we are not racing.
Purchasing these houses will also unlock special perks for you. Each property in the game comes with special emotes and items. For example, if you purchase the Edinburgh Castle in Forza Horizon 4, you will be granted access to a crown and royal wave emote.
There is also a decent amount of character customization as well in the game but it is nothing special to brag about. There will be 500 apparel options in the game plus 50 different emotes so you can customize your car and your character at the same time. The picture mode and drone modes are both coming back as well which means that players will be able to take photos and roam around the map in their drones.
Forzathon is also being revamped for Forza Horizon 4 and is now called Forzathon Life. These will be timed challenges that players can join online and complete in the form of a group while they last. They will change every hour so players will need to be quick in order to complete the objectives and move to the next round. These will earn players Forzathon points, which can be used to purchase special items from the Forzathon Store.
Online Multiplayer is still making a comeback and it has been one of the best aspects of Forza Horizon franchise. Players will be able to play online with their friends or challenge players from round the world in different types of races all depending on their mood and racing preferences. There are also knockout type stages where after each match, losers will be kicked and winners will stay until only one winner remains.
Players will play the game in online lobbies, which will support up to 72 concurrent players. To make sure that players are not bullied in any way, Playground Games have implemented ghosting in such online lobbies where players will not be able to crash into each other while roaming in the open world.
Showcase events are also coming back in Forza Horizon 4, which are basically special stages which put players against certain other types of vehicles such as trains, airplanes or hovercrafts. These Showcase events are the true life of the whole Horizon Festival, which is why they are returning in the latest game as well.
Forza has never disappointed when it comes to sound and Forza Horizon 4 is also boasting some of the best authentic sound representation of all cars. Every car gives out its own sound and does not feel muffled or altered in any way. It is not just the car sounds that Forza is excelling, overall sound quality of the game is very good and each screech or thud feels solid.
Everyone knows that Forza Horizon features the best soundtrack and this time, Forza Horizon 4 is not disappointing at all. The game features solid soundtrack and all fan favorite radio stations are making a comeback including Horizon Bass Arena, Horizon Pulse etc.
Check out the complete soundtrack list here.
Forza Horizon 4 is featuring around 450 cars right out of the box. These cars will be spanning over 100 different manufacturers. A new feature this time is that each car is going to have its own unique skill tree and players will level up separately for each car and unlock perks. Cars are also getting special side missions which will be as simple as repainting them, taking photos in special places or tuning them to a certain level.
One of the main controversies with cars in the game this year has been that Toyota and Mitsubishi, as both have been removed from the car lineup in the game. You can read more on this story here but this has left fans of both manufacturer very unhappy. However, there are also some DLC packs coming with the game right at launch however, which will add more cars to your garage to start the game with.
