Developer and publisher Keen Games GmbH have announced the next major content update for Enshrouded. The co-op survival action RPG Enshrouded is getting its seventh major update called Wake of the Water, and it is bringing one of the most fan-requested features into the game: water. Wake of the Water is slated for an October 2025 release; however, a confirmed release date will be announced at a later date.

Keen Games is working closely with its fan base to add more features to Enshrouded during its Early Access phase, and has a Feature Upvote page live where players can vote for any features they want to see added to the game, and the addition of water quickly rose to the top of this list. The main reason for its delay is that implementing voxel-based water is incredibly hard for the developers, but still, it is now coming to the game in the next update. As of now, very few details are known, and additional features of the new update will be announced closer to its launch. The trailer confirms the following features as of now:
- New water biome with a cool, tropical vibe for relaxing or terraforming in beach-side
- Lizard-like enemy faction, looking like they need sunscreen
- Two-handed weapon that puts the “great” in Greatsword
- Voxel-based water simulation that can be used in building, for swimming in, fishing, aqueducting, more — and it doesn’t appear at all cube-like!
Since its Early Access release back in January 2024, Enshrouded has seen over four million players jump into its unique world and experience it. Sticking true to their promise, the developer has also worked tirelessly on the game to deliver brand-new content based on player feedback throughout this time, and the new upcoming seventh major update is a testimony to this commitment. The 1.0 release of Enshrouded is planned along with its console release in 2026. As of now, Enshrouded is available in Early Access on PC via Steam. The game is currently offering a 20% discount, so if you want to jump into the game, now is the time to do it.
