Destiny 2’s new limited Halloween event Festival of the Lost has finally started and it brings back some of the best elements to the table which made it so special when it first came out back in 2016.

This year’s Festival of the Lost event brings tons of new epic loot, events, a new story questline in which you get to investigate a murder and new rewards for you to collect and hunt for.

We have curated this Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost Guide in which we have detailed all about this limited timed event, how you can start new bounties, what new rewards await you, how you can complete the new story line and how you can fully complete this special event before it ends at the start of next month.

Festival of the Lost Guide – Destiny 2 Forsaken

Our Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost Guide details everything that you need to know about completing Festival of the Lost event and earning everything exclusive to this event.

Since the event is now live, jumping in the game will give you a whole new look as Amanda Holiday has been really busy putting on some new decorations around The Tower. It has been decorated with a really spooky setting and is filled with banners, candles and pumpkins all around. Since the festival is all about remembering the fallen, some ‘In Memory Of’ holograms are also visible here and there.

Event Duration

Festival of the Lost is a limited timed event and will only run from October 16th to November 6th 2018. You can play the event as much as you like during this time. This is plenty of time to earn all the exclusive items and nail those bounties.

Exclusive Eververse Merchandise

If you want to head over to Eververse, Tess has a plethora of exclusive event-only items which will be gone once the event is over. You will notice a new armor set, ghost projection, a chicken mask, box of shaders, emote, sparrow and an exotic ship. All of the new items are mentioned under the ‘Festival of the Lost Purchases’ tab.

Apart from these exclusive purchases, Ephemeral Engrams items are also available to be purchased from Tess. These includes some really cool Ghost Shells such as the Nine Lives Shell. You will unlock them as you level up by completing milestones, events and challenges for the duration of the festival. As you level up, you will earn these Ephemeral Engrams along with Steadfast Engram. If you do not want to grind too much, you can easily spend real-world money and buy them from Tess directly.

Exclusive Triumphs

Exclusive to this festival, new Triumphs have been added for you to complete in the Events section of Triumphs menu. Complete these to earn new gear, cosmetics and bragging rights over your friends.

There is also a final Triumph which is only unlocked once you have completed all seven initial events. These are basically the completion bonuses of each of the unique tasks that you must complete in the Festival of the Lost event.

We Came, We Saw, We Survived

Complete the Festival of the Lost Milestone to earn complete this Triumph. We have detailed it further below in the guide.

Lucid Dreamer

Unlock all perks on special Festival of the Lost masks. We have detailed all masks below in the guide.

A Bounty a Day

Complete Festival of the Lost Daily Bounties. These are daily bounties that you can complete by signing in your game. To accept bounties, head to Amanda and pick whichever bounties you want. Daily Bounties must be completed the same day while weekly bounties will end after one week of accepting.

You Don’t Scare Me

This is completed after defeating Nightmares in the Haunted Forest. Once completed, you will be rewarded with ‘Nightmare’s End’ emblem.

Seventh Branch

The Haunted Forest event has seven different branches. Complete the seventh branch to complete this Triumph Event. You will be rewarded with ‘Deep in the Woods’ emblem upon its completion.

This is My Story

Completed once you obtain the unique weapon for the Festival of the Lost.

Masquerade

Collect all masks exclusive to Festival of the Lost from Amanda Holliday. You will be rewarded with the Amaranth Atrocity shader.

Lost in the Forest

This is the final Triumph and is only unlock after you have completed all previous Triumphs. This will reward you with the Dark Prince mask.

Exclusive Milestone

Festival of the Lost comes with an exclusive Milestone which is not that hard to complete. Head to Amanda Holliday to begin the Milestone. She will give you a Master Rahool Mask and will ask you to visit Io to start the Festival of the Lost storyline. This is basically your introduction to the new mode Haunted Forest.

Complete all the steps explained once you have reached Io to win the Fighting Lion grenade launcher and Fighting Lion catalyst. You will also unlock Festival of the Lost bounties for you to complete along with the Exotic Weapon Horror Story. For on this later in the guide.

Haunted Forest

Exclusive to the Forest of the Lost event, Haunted Forest is a new limited time mode in which players will enter the Haunted Forest in teams of 1-3 and attempt to defeat hordes of enemies to reach even more powerful creatures called Nightmares and try to defeat them. This mode has seven different branches and completing all seven yields the ultimate reward.

Each branch consists of a certain number of enemies followed by the boss. The boss will be a Nightmare. Defeating them will take all your might but the rewards are worth the trouble. To top it all off, each match will be 15 minutes long so you will need to wrap up everything in these fifteen minutes.

Earning Fragmenting Souls

Fragmenting Souls is a Festival of the Lost exclusive currency. You will need plenty of this currency to purchase the new exclusive items. Luck for you, there are plenty of ways to earn these Fragmenting Souls.

You earn Fragmenting Souls after each branch comleting in the Haunted Forest and completing bounties. Daily bounties give you 1 Fragmenting Soul while weekly bounties give you 15 Fragmenting Souls.

Apart from these, you will also find chests randomly in the Haunting Forest which will give you plenty of Fragmented Souls. Complete as many runs as you want to earn more souls each time.

You can get it from the Ephemeral Engram drop or purchase it using Bright Dust.

Colonel

You can get this mask as an Ephemeral Engram drop or purchase it using Bright Dust. It will set you back 1450 Bright Dust.

Master Rahool

Start the Festival of the Lost storyline and you will automatically obtain this mask.

Traveller

Purchase it from Amanda for 30 Fragmented Souls.

Lord Shaxx

Purchase it from Amanda for 30 Fragmented Souls.

Petra Venj

Purchase it from Amanda for 30 Fragmented Souls.

Dominus Ghaul

Purchase it from Amanda for 40 Fragmented Souls.

Jade Rabbit

Purchase it from Amanda for 40 Fragmented Souls.

Will of the Thousand

Purchase it from Amanda for 40 Fragmented Souls.

Scorn

Exotic Weapon – Horror Story

Festival of the Lost comes with its own exotic weapon Horror Story. This is a very powerful auto rifle with 600 attack and level 10 masterwork. It also comes with six perks. These are

  • Precision Frame
  • Red Dot Micro
  • Flared Magwell
  • Tracker
  • Zen Moment

Murder in the Tower

This is the ending chapter of this special festive event. In this quest, you will be required to investigate the murder of Master Ives and bring the killer under the axe. Complete this final quest to win a powerful engram.
