Asphalt 9 Switch

Gameloft has announced that its latest title in the long-running Asphalt series, Asphalt 9: Legends, is launching on Nintendo Switch next month. Asphalt 9: Legends was earlier released on mobile platforms including both iOS and Android as well as PC and now the title is finally heading to Nintendo Switch as a fully ported title with new exclusive features and mechanics.

For some weird reason, Asphalt 9: Legends is a free-to-play title yet it is available for ‘pre-purchase’ on Nintendo eShop. It just sounds weird because how do you pre-purchase a free title? Anyway, coming back to the game, it will bring all the game modes released in the original release along which include the online play, multiplayer crews, all licensed cars as the singleplayer campaign.

At launch, the Nintendo Switch version of Asphalt 9: Legends will feature around 60 super and hypercars which includes cars like the Bugatti Chiron, McLaren P1, Lamborghini Terzo Millennio, Porsche 918 and a special livery for BMW Z8 which is exclusive to Nintendo Switch. Players will also be able to customize their favorite cars with custom liveries or even add Carbon Parts to each vehicle.

Along with a diverse roster of cars, the game will also feature around 41 tracks which will allow three local opponents as well as the brand new offline gameplay mode. Naturally, the Nintendo Switch version will also come with a different control set. Players will be able to play the game with their Joy-Cons, the Pro Controller, gyroscopic controls. Touch screen controls or even the brand new Touchdrive driving control system which adds strategy to the fun of driving.

Asphalt 9: Legends will be a completely free-to-play title for players to the extent that a Switch Online membership will not be required by them to play online. Gameloft also promises that despite the game offers microtransactions, they will not be forced to pay to win in the game. However, players who want a head start can purchase the Asphalt 9: Legends Starting Racer Pack which unlocks supercars and resources to boost progress.

Asphalt 9: Legends is slated for release on October 8, 2019, on Nintendo Switch. It is available now on iOS, Android and PC.
