This Crimson Desert Grappling Hook Guide shows how you can unlock the grappling hook in the game, which is also known as the Axiom Force. As you move forward in Crimson Desert, you unlock many useful abilities, and one of the most important ones is Axiom Force. This skill gives you access to the Grappling Hook, which makes traveling around much easier and also helps in certain quests. It is not something you need to search for, as it comes naturally as part of the story.
Grappling Hook Guide – Crimson Desert
You don’t have to go out of your way and do different things to get this ability. The game gives it to you during the main storyline, specifically in the “Polar Opposites” quest, which is part of the Traces questline.
Upgrade Axiom Force
After you get Axiom Force, it won’t be fully useful right away. You need to upgrade it to Level 2 to unlock the Grappling Hook feature. If you keep upgrading it further, you will reach a higher level and unlock Aerial Swing, where you can swing through the air using momentum. This feels much smoother and faster when moving around.
To upgrade Axiom Force, you will need Abyss Artifacts, so keep collecting those as you play.
How the Grappling Hook Works
After collecting and upgrading the Axiom Force to Level 2, the Grappling Hook becomes usable. It lets you latch onto objects or surfaces and move toward or away from them. However, every time you use it, it consumes 200 stamina. So you can’t keep using it again and again without stopping.
To use it, you first need to aim at a surface or object and lock onto it. If you are on PC, press Tab; if on PS, hold L3, or if on Xbox, hold the Left Stick to lock on.
Once locked, you can either pull yourself closer or push away. If on PC, use the right mouse button; if on PS, use L2, or if on Xbox, use LT for pulling. You can also push away by using the left mouse button on PC, R2 on PlayStation, or RT on Xbox, depending on how you control it. This gives you flexibility while moving, especially in tricky areas.
You also have the option to cancel the action anytime by pressing Tab on PC, Circle or L3 on PlayStation, or B or the Left Stick again on Xbox. If things don’t go as planned, it can be helpful during fast movement or exploration.
The Grappling Hook is more than just a tool for movement. It helps you reach places that are otherwise hard to access and is required in some missions. As you upgrade it further, it becomes even more useful, letting you move faster and more smoothly through the world.
