This Crimson Desert Crafting Materials Locations Guide details how you can find different crafting materials in the game. In Crimson Desert, upgrading your gear is all about collecting the right materials and using them at the blacksmith in Hernand through the Refinement option. Basic upgrades use common items, but stronger gear needs rare materials and Abyss Artifacts, which you earn by fighting enemies, finishing missions, and quests.
Crafting Materials Locations Guide – Crimson Desert
You will spend most of your time cutting trees, mining ores, hunting animals, and looting enemies, while tools like axes, pickaxes, and certain skills like Force Palm help you gather resources faster.
Abyss Artifacts for High-Level Upgrades
Abyss Artifacts are special items needed for advanced upgrades, and you earn them by consistently playing the game. As you defeat enemies, a meter near your minimap slowly fills up. You can also get them by completing challenges or as rewards from quests.
All Crafting Materials
The following are all the Crafting Materials that you can use for gear upgradation.
Wood Materials
| Material | Where to Get |
| Timber & Fine Timber | These are mainly used to upgrade wooden gear like shields, and you can get them by cutting down trees with a Logging Axe bought in Hernand at the Provisioner’s Shop. After cutting any tree, break it into pieces to collect both materials easily. |
| Flawless Timber | Same as above. |
Mining Ores for Gear Upgrades
Ores are usually found on rocky cliffs and mountain areas, and each region has its own common type. Once you mine a spot, it stays visible on your map and will grow again after some time, which helps when you want to revisit farming routes.
Some deposits are placed high up and can be difficult to reach, but you can either shoot them from a distance using Charged Shot or climb closer and use skills like Force Palm. These ores are mainly used to improve weapons, heavy armor, metal shields, and even some accessories.
| Material | Where to Get |
| Iron Ore | Used for improving weapons and heavy armor. Iron ore is commonly found on cliffs and rocky areas, especially around Hernand, where multiple deposits are grouped together near rivers and mountains. Use a pickaxe bought from the shop to collect this. You can also use Force Palm.
Some locations where you can get this are: Southeast of Hernand, Steel Mountains, Anvil Hill in Demeniss, South of Crimson Desert, Tashkalp Town in Crimson Desert, and Mount Benus in Delesyia. |
| Copper Ore | This material is used for both gear and jewellery upgrades. Like iron, it appears on mountain walls in Hernand and nearby regions, often in clusters along cliffs.
Some locations where you can get this are: Nas River in Demeniss, Gorthak in Delesyia, and Tashkalp in Crimson. |
| Bloodstone | Bloodstone helps upgrade weapons and armor. It is mostly found in the Crimson Desert and Pailune regions, especially along main roads towards Trader’s Expanse, the west cliff outside of Delesyia, and near Tashkalp. |
| Scolecite Ore | Used for weapon and armor upgrades. This ore is mainly located in the Crimson Desert, with many deposits found along northern roads and cliff edges. |
| Gold Ore | A rare material used for high-value upgrades. Gold is found inside special mines, such as the one in Demeniss at Anvil Hill. You must break a large rock to enter and mine multiple deposits. |
| Silver Ore | Mostly used for jewellery upgrades. Silver is very rare and hidden in caves, with a large deposit located behind a waterfall in Hernand at Three Saints’ Falls that requires stab skills to access. |
| Bismuth Ore | This ore is used for upgrading heavy armor pieces like boots and chest. It can be found in small clusters in Hernand’s Witchwoods, but it slowly damages your health when you get close. |
| Azurite | A crystal used for jewellery upgrades. Azurite appears mostly in the Crimson Desert and along northern roads towards Varnia, often in grouped deposits.
Some locations where you can get this are: Anvil Hill, Central Hernand, and North of Delesyia. |
| Garnet | Garnet is another jewellery material usually found in mountainous or underground areas, including craters and hidden spots in Demeniss and Delesyia. |
| Epidote | Used for jewellery upgrades. Epidote is found in mountainous regions such as Pailune, along the borders of the Crimson Desert, and near rivers in Delesyia. |
| Diamond | A very rare resource for jewellery upgrades. Diamonds are hidden in caves or deep areas across different regions like Hernand and the Crimson Desert.
In Hernand, you can get it at Crater in the southeast of Howling Hill, and in Crimson Desert, you will find it south of Tashkalp and north of Trader’s Expanse. |
Bones & Hides
Bones and hides come from animals, and the type you get depends on what you hunt. Smaller animals usually give lighter materials, while larger ones drop heavier, stronger ones. These materials are mostly used for crafting and improving leather armor and certain jewellery pieces.
| Material | Where to Get |
| Small Bone | Used for leather gear and jewellery. Small bones drop from animals like wolves, deer, and goats, which are commonly found in forest areas.
Another way is that you can buy them from the Provisioner’s Shop after completing Chapter 4. |
| Large Bone | This material comes from bigger animals like boars, bears, rhinos, moose, and elephants, and is used for stronger leather upgrades.
You can find these animals in forests, cold regions, and the Crimson Desert, depending on where they can habitate. |

Another way is to buy them from the Tannery Shop. |
| Thick Hide | Dropped by large animals like rhinos and elephants. This hide is used for tougher armor upgrades and is found in the northern Crimson Desert areas.

Miscellaneous Materials
Some materials come from other sources, like your camp or enemies. For example, you can get items like fleece by upgrading your camp and raising animals, while other materials can be picked up from defeated enemies or bought from shops when available. These resources are mainly used for softer gear like cloaks, cloth outfits, and accessories.

| Cloth Pieces | Used for soft armor and cloaks. These are mainly looted from enemies like bandits or bought later in the game, after Chapter 4, from the Provisioner’s Shop. |
