At some point in Resident Evil Requiem, you will experience a flashback that takes place in the Orphanage while playing as Grace. How to Get Past the Children – Resident Evil Requiem
In that moment, we are playing as Grace in her childhood. She wakes up from her sleep due to a scream and finds out that her fellow children are killing everyone in the Orphanage. Playing as a young girl with no weapons means you cannot fight back with them. So the only way to survive is by hiding and carefully sneaking through the building.
One of the most confusing moments in this section happens when two children block the corridor past the playroom, making it seem impossible to move forward. At first, it looks like you might need to sneak past them somehow, but after some time, you realize they remain at their spot without moving. They keep staring at the double doors there. This makes the situation confusing.
The trick here is not to move forward at all. Instead, turn around and head back toward the playroom you came from. Go back to the hiding spot under the table. When you return to that spot, one of the children will eventually walk back down the corridor toward the playroom. Because of this, the path ahead becomes clear. After the child passes by, you can safely leave the hiding spot and go back into the corridor. With the children gone, continue up the hallway and enter the room that is now unlocked.
Finding the Trapdoor Key
Inside this new room, your next task is to locate a key for the trapdoor. The key is placed on top of a chest of drawers, which you cannot reach right away. To get it, start pulling out the drawers. Once enough drawers are open, you can climb up and grab the key from the top. However, the situation becomes dangerous again once you pick it up.
Hiding From the Children Again
As soon as you have the key and begin moving toward the trapdoor, several children suddenly drop from the ceiling and enter the room. Since you still have no weapons to defend yourself, you must hide again immediately.
You need to immediately turn around and rush toward the stack of boxes located near the chest of drawers. Crouch behind these boxes and stay hidden until the children leave the area.
Once the room becomes quiet, you are safe to continue and use the key to escape through the trapdoor and finally escape the Orphanage.
