This Reanimal Secret Ending Guide details where you can find all five coffins in the game and unlock its secret ending. Reanimal has a hidden ending that many players can easily miss. To see this extra ending and unlock the Friends Reunited trophy/achievement, you must discover five hidden Coffins during one full playthrough. You cannot use chapter select for this; everything must be collected in the same run. Once you find all five and complete the story, you will get this ending. Finding the secret ending also unlocks the Friends Reunited trophy/achievement for your platform.
Secret Ending Guide – Reanimal
It is important to note that if you miss even one Coffin, you will need to start a brand new game and collect all five again.
Coffin Location #1 – Chapter 1: Dead in the Water
In Chapter 1, there is a section where you ride a minecart across a bridge as part of the story. After crossing, step off the cart and follow the railway tracks toward the right side. Soon, you will notice two crashed train cars. Go inside the wrecked trains and move through them carefully. Once you pass through to the back area behind the wreckage, you will find the first Coffin waiting there. Open it before continuing.
Coffin Location #2 – Chapter 3: After the Flood
Later in Chapter 3, you will use a harpoon from your boat to destroy a mine for the first time. Right after that, you will see a hotel directly ahead. Do not enter the hotel yet. Instead, steer your boat toward the flooded city path on the right side.
Along this path, you will spot two mines on the left. Destroy them with your harpoon. Continue boating until you reach a building with a hole in the wall. Enter through that opening and follow the path downward inside the building. At the bottom, you will come across the second Coffin.
Coffin Location #3 – Chapter 3: After the Flood
Still in Chapter 3, after completing the hotel section, you will reach a wide open ocean area with a massive cannon sitting on a central island. Sail around the cannon from the right side.
Behind the cannon, toward the back-left edge of the map, you will notice mountains and a narrow passage you can drive through. Follow that hidden water path all the way to the end. The third Coffin is located there.
Coffin Location #4 – Chapter 4: No Shelter
In Chapter 4, you will pass through a dark room filled with sleeping enemies that you must carefully avoid. Shortly after, you will enter another room containing three child enemies that will attack you. The room also has a large hole in the floor with a rope hanging down.
After defeating the three enemies, look toward the bottom-left corner of the room for a door. Go through that door immediately to find the fourth Coffin. Make sure you collect it before interacting with the body hanging from the rope, because touching it will trigger the end of the chapter. This is very close to the chapter’s final moment, so don’t miss it.
Coffin Location #5 – Chapter 7: The Spoils
In Chapter 7, you will travel through trenches and eventually enter a bunker. Inside, you will use an elevator and later pick up bolt cutters from an operating room as part of the story.
Use the bolt cutters to unlock a door in the corridor. Move forward through a room filled with explosive soldiers. Wait for the enemy positioned in the back-right corner to explode; this will break open a hole in the wall.
Continue into the next hallway and run past the explosive soldiers lying on beds. When you take a right turn, a wall behind you will explode, and a wheelchair will roll out. As soon as this happens, turn around and go through the newly opened wall behind you.
You will enter a hidden room with a large wheel mechanism. Turn the wheel to reveal a ladder. Climb down the ladder to reach the fifth and final Coffin. Keep in mind, the trophy will not unlock immediately after collecting this one.
Triggering the Secret Ending
Once you’ve found all five Coffins in the same playthrough, simply continue and complete the game as usual. There are nine chapters in total, and you don’t need to do anything special beyond finishing the story.
After the normal ending scene plays, an additional cutscene will appear. In this secret ending, the five spirits connected to the Coffins reunite with the girl, and a well begins to overflow. When this scene finishes, you will unlock the Friends Reunited trophy/achievement.
