This Mewgenics Heatwave Guide tells you what Heatwave does and how to handle it. When you unlock the Desert area in Act 2 of Mewgenics, you quickly notice that battles feel harder than before. This is because of a new condition called Heatwave. Unlike most status effects that come from enemies, this one comes from the environment itself. That makes it more dangerous and harder to avoid. If you don’t manage it properly, your team can slowly fall apart.
Heatwave Guide – Mewgenics
Heatwave automatically affects all of your cats at the start of every fight in the Desert. You cannot avoid it, and it does not depend on enemy attacks. Its main effect is weakening your healing. Any healing you use during battle becomes slightly less effective, reduced by 1 point each time. On top of that, the normal healing your cats receive after winning a battle is completely removed.
This is the real problem. Without the usual recovery between fights, your team can slowly lose health over time. That means by the time you reach later encounters or the area’s boss, your cats may already be struggling.
How To Deal with a Heatwave
There are several ways in which we can deal with heatwaves in the Mewgenics.
Using Water to Counter the Heat
The most direct way to manage heatwaves is by using water. On the Desert map, you will find spots marked with water droplet symbols. These spaces can give you water bottles. You can also buy bottles in different fill levels as you progress through the area.
Water doesn’t permanently remove Heatwave, but it temporarily protects you from its negative effects. This short window can be very important, especially near the end of a fight.
Creating Water During Battle
There is another option as well. The skill called “Number One,” which any class can use, allows a cat to create water tiles around them. These tiles hydrate nearby cats and briefly cancel the effects of Heatwave. As an added benefit, if you have empty water bottles, these tiles will refill them.
Using this skill at the right moment is very important. If you activate it close to the end of a battle, you can make sure your team benefits from the restored healing before the fight ends.
Don’t Ignore Regular Healing
Even though Heatwave reduces mid-battle healing, it does not remove it completely. Healing is weaker, but it still works. This means you should continue using healing abilities to support your team. A Cleric can be especially helpful here, as steady healing during combat helps reduce the long-term damage caused by Heatwave.
