In this Nioh 3 Otoroshi Boss Battle Guide, we will see all the tips and tricks you need to defeat Otoroshi in Nioh 3. Otoroshi is a large boss you encounter later in the game. Even though the required mission level is high, this fight is surprisingly manageable. The boss is big and intimidating, but its movements are slow and easy to read. If you stay patient and fight smartly, this battle is much simpler than it looks.
Otoroshi Boss Battle Guide – Nioh 3
You will face Otoroshi in the Black Feather Sanctuary Mission at Level 69. Before going into the fight, if you feel underpowered, you can explore the higher-level sections of Heian first. Upgrading your gear and reaching around Level 90 equipment makes this fight even easier. With stronger stats and better damage output, Otoroshi becomes more of a formality than a challenge.
How to Defeat the Boss
Otoroshi mainly attacks with its claws and ice-based abilities. At times, it slams two massive icicles into the ground, creating dangerous, risky zones. Despite these flashy attacks, the boss lacks speed. This gives you plenty of room to react and reposition. With Dual Ninja Swords in Ninja Style, you can easily stay mobile and control the flow of the fight.
The safest position is behind the boss. Wait for its attack, dodge cleanly, and move around to its back. From there, land a few quick strikes. Do not overextend your combo. After dealing short bursts of damage, pull away and reset. Each time you land hits safely, you rebuild your Ninjutsu resources.
Once your Ninjutsu is ready, create distance. Use your Summoning Seal along with all available Ninjutsu attacks from a safe range. Because Otoroshi is slow, it struggles to pressure you while you are far away. After using your ranged tools, return to melee briefly to recharge them again. Repeat this cycle, and you will steadily chip away at its health without taking much risk. Keep an eye on your Ki, because if you drain it, you may lose the fight.
Overall, this is a straightforward boss battle. Stay calm, avoid standing in front of it, attack from behind, and rely heavily on your Ninjutsu. With patience and smartness, the fight ends quickly and safely.
