After finishing the main story in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, there is still a lot to do in the post-game to keep the players hooked to the game. One of the most exciting things is catching the Legendary Pokemon Yveltal, along with the other Kalos Legendaries: Xerneas and Zygarde. However, catching these Pokemon is not easy and simple, as you are required to do a specific mission. In this Pokemon Legends: Z-A Yveltal Guide, we will see how we can catch Yveltal, where to find it, and its best stats.
How to Get Yveltal in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
To unlock Yveltal, you first need to finish Main Mission 37: Operation Protect Lumiose and watch the post-credits scene. After that, you will receive a call to go to Hotel AZ, where you can make a Wish as a reward for achieving Rank A in the AZ Royale.
After that, ‘L’ will contact you. L will talk about The One Who Takes and The One Who Gives Pokemon that are heading toward Lumiose City. You will then meet with former members of Team Flare, who will help you uncover more details about these Pokemon.
You will find out that The One Who Takes Pokemon is Yveltal itself. To catch it, you should first talk to Grisham and Griselle at Cafe Noveau. They will ask you to go to Vinnie at Quasartico Inc. There, Vinnie will ask you to fight a simulation of three Rogue Mega Evolutions: Victreebel, Tyranitar, and Staryu.
Defeat these simulated ones to move forward in the mission. Once you succeed, Team Flare Noveau will instruct you to head toward the Rouge District’s shopping mall, where Yveltal is going.
Battle with Yveltal
Go to the location marked on your map and climb the ladder on the side of the mall. Follow the rooftop path until you reach the dome at the center. Interact with the “!” icon there to start your battle with Yveltal.
This Pokemon is a tough opponent. It uses powerful moves like Oblivion Wing, Dragon Rush, Hurricane, and Phantom Force. As the fight takes place in a tight space, this might cause Pokemon’s moves to miss.
Once Yveltal’s HP drops to about half, you will notice an arrow pattern showing that it’s easier to catch now. Start throwing Ultra Balls before its HP gets too low.
After catching Yveltal, you can adjust its Stats and Moveset for battles. A Timid Nature is ideal since it increases Speed while lowering Attack (You can use Mints to change its Nature if needed.)
Train Yveltal’s EVs like this:
- 252 HP
- 252 Special Attack
- 6 Speed
In battle, use Yveltal’s following moves:
- Hurricane
- Dark Pulse
- Focus Blast
- Oblivion Wing (its signature move)
By using the above moves, you can use Yveltal’s strong Special Attack and its Flying/Dark type. You can also use other moves like Heat Wave or Shadow Ball for extra coverage.
