What good would a magical fantasy land be if you, the player, couldn’t use magic for yourself? After all, there’s nothing quite like practicing a mystical art that bends the laws of nature. That’s why it’s no surprise that a lot of players take up magic as a skill in Old School Runescape. Aside from the cool factor, it’s also a rather practical and useful skill. Want to try this highly recommended skill for OSRS gold making? Then read this short, simple, but highly-effective guide to grinding magic in OSRS.
Starting Out Weak, and That’s Okay
At the earliest levels, the best way to grind is to cast strike spells on cows, goblins, and other weak targets. As an alternative, you can also take on the monks at Edgeville Monastery. Because they don’t deal much damage and recuperate by themselves, you can cast on them over and over again, which means an even faster grind. Depending on how you’ll be leveling up, later on, you can stop as early as level 4 or keep at it until level 19.
Bolting It Out
With Enchanting Crossbow Bolts, you can stop with the previously mentioned method as early as level 4, provided that you have copious amounts of OSRS gold to burn. For enchanting crossbow bolts, you’ll need specific runes for each kind of crossbow bolt material.
The best part about this is that if you don’t mind doing just one thing repeatedly, then you can stick with this until level 87. Despite its simplicity, however, we wouldn’t recommend this method. Aside from the fact that it requires a lot of OSRs gold, those crossbow bolts you can make a profit out of won’t really earn you much. Nevertheless, if the pros outweigh the cons for you, then this one’s a convenient and safe way to grind.
Lucky Strike
On the other hand, if you want to stick to a more combat-oriented approach, Strike spells are the way to go. While there are many Strike spells, Fire Strike is the most popular one—and with good reason.
If you want to make the best out of using Strike spells, use an air or fire staff, as they have autocast spells and even reduce rune costs.
Here are the best targets when using Strike spells to level up:
- Flesh Crawlers and Chaos Druids – drop herbs
- Hill Giants – drops big bones and limpwurt roots
- Lesser demons in Wizards’ Tower – drops runes and other items that are worth a lot of gold
Additionally, for Hill Giants, aside from its drops, it can also be safe-spotted. So while it won’t be the fastest way to level up, it’s definitely one of the safest.
Turning Anything to Gold
Finally, there’s the all-famous High Level Alchemy, which you cast on items to turn them into the highest amount of Old School Runescape gold you can get from a specialty shop price.
There are lots of items that you can choose to cast this on, but the most popular ones are longbows, battlestaves, dragonhide bodies, and platebodies – items that can be created by the players themselves. You can even make Old School Runescape gold that way!
If you want to get even more EXP from using High Level Alchemy, you should grind while in the Alchemist’s Room in the Mage Training Arena. Aside from the EXP bonus, there’s also a chance that you might not incur rune costs when casting.
Higher than High Level
Although you can hit the level cap with High-Level Alchemy, if you want an even faster version of it, Stun-Alch might be for you. It requires you to be at least level 80, but the only difference with this one is that after casting High-Level Alchemy, you’ll also cast Stun on an NPC, which in turn will garner you more EXP.
So there you have it – the ways you can work your magic until you max it out in OSRS. So, how will you get there? That’s all up to you and the spells you’ll cast!
