ININ Games and STUDIOARTDINK have officially announced the release date of their upcoming title Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World. Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is slated for release digitally as well as physically on May 28, 2021, in North America, Europe, and Australia on Nintendo Switch and PS4. The retail editions for PS4 and Nintendo Switch will set you back $39.99 and will also include the original Monster World IV as a bonus.
The digital release is coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch as well however it will cost $34.99 and will release both in the EU and US through the platform stores. After the initial PS4 and Nintendo Switch release, a Steam version is also planned for release a month later on June 29, 2021, and it will cost $34.99. The digital release will not include the original game as that is exclusive to physical releases by ININ Games.
Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World follows the journey of Asha and her companion Pepelogoo who must free four spirits confined by evil forces. She must discover the origin of these evil forces throughout her journey and then work towards eliminating them in order to free the four spirits. The story of Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World remains true to the original 1994 release of Monster World IV.
Apart from the main story, the game is a complete remake featuring cell-shaded 3D graphics and 2D gameplay that still has the soul of the original release. It also features enhanced visuals and refined play content to suit a modern gamer. Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is also getting limited and exclusive physical editions by ININ Games for die-hard fans of the franchise including a Limited Edition, Collector’s Edition, and Mega Collector’s Edition.
