Warriors Orochi 4 released initially in Japan, the game adopts hack and slash genre and is developed by Koei Tecmo. The game first released on September 27, 2018 in Japan first, later it released on October 16 in North America and October 19, 2018 in Europe.
Koei Tecmo has recently announced that the game has won a Guinness World Record. The record falls under the category of most playable characters in a single hack and slash video game. If you check the official Guinness World Record website, you will find a total of 170 playable characters that are playable in Warriors Orochi 4.

The website also mentions the criteria for the award for which Warriors Orochi stood out. Here are the criteria:
- This record is for the most unique playable characters in a hack-and-slash videogame
- This record is to be attempted by a licensed game developer or publisher
- This record is measured in the total number of unique playable characters in a hack-and-slash videogame
- For the purposes of the record, hack-and-slash videogame is defined as a videogame with combat that focuses on real-time combat with hand-to-hand weapons
Recently, at Tokyo Games Show, Koei Tecmo showcased Lu Bu in deification form. Koe Tecmo announced that Lu Bu will be the eight character to receive the deification form. Also, Lu Bu will be the last character to receive the deification form.
Deification form is the ultimate god mode version of characters in Warriors Orochi 4. Lu Bu now joins the previously announced character roster. The roster includes Ii Naotora, Oda Nobunaga, Guan Yinping, Ishida Mitsunari, Cao Pi, Sanada Yukimura, and Zhao Yun.
