Truck Driver is Getting Tons of New Features Including Damage System

Truck Driver New Features

SOEDESCO has announced detailed plans for Truck Driver which include tons of new features including a brand new visual damage system. SOEDESCO earlier announced that Kokku is taking over the development of Truck Driver after a buggy launch however Kokku is now churning out regular updates for the game and a big one seems to be on the way.

With the new update, Truck Driver gets a completely new Visual Damage System along with an entirely reworked AI System. Kokku is also working on shifting the game to a new engine. A Steam and Nintendo Switch release for Truck Driver have also been announced and the new updates will arrive on all four platforms making Truck Driver a consistent title across all platforms.

To explain the details of all the upcoming updates, SOEDESCO has released three brand new videos that focus on a particular feature arriving in Truck Driver in future updates. With the Visual Damage System, you will be able to see all the damage your truck has sustained on the SatNav. You will need to watch out for chassis damage, engine and tire wear. Each type of damage will affect your gameplay in a different way.

If your tires suffer from damage, your braking distance will increase. Chassis damage will increase your steering deviation while the engine damage will slow you down and eventually break the engine. The latest update will visualize all of this in 3D as scratches and dents will start appearing on your truck if it keeps taking damage. Apart from the player trucks, AI trucks will also display visual damage.

The new AI system in works will add significant improvements to the AI cars and pedestrian AI. With the new system in place, the individual driver behavior types will be added to the AI cars and trucks. Aggressive and cautious drivers will be found on the road as part of the new AI system. Pedestrians will also cross the roads now and will react to oncoming traffic by running or moving quickly.

Area types will also now affect traffic. Cities will have dense traffic while rural areas will have less traffic. The new Unity Engine upgrade will allow all of these changes to be implemented in the game more effectively. Currently, the game is running on Unity version 2017.4 however Kokku is planning to shift the game to version 2019.2. This will result in smoother frame rates, fewer stutters and easy addition of new features and content. It will also improve the visuals of the game.

Truck Driver was released back in 2019 and it features your story when you inherit a truck from your father and move to the big city to become a truck driver. In a bid to make a name for yourself, you do jobs and earn the trust of the local community. The game offers a seamless open world where you interact with different people from different walks of life and complete jobs in order to honor your father by becoming the Truck Driver. Key features of Truck Driver include:

  • Enjoy a trucking experience focused on your career as a truck driver
  • Build stronger relationships with the local community with each job
  • Customize your truck with tons of parts and tune it to your liking
