Total War: Three Kingdoms was just released yesterday and it has already set a series record for concurrent players on Steam. There are well over 160k people playing the game and fighting in the setting of ancient China that the game offers.

At the time of publishing, the game sits at the number 4 spot on Steam, in a list of top games by current player count. The game is well above Warframe, and is led by the ever popular trio of games, Dota 2, PUBG, and CS:GO.

Creative Assembly, who is the developer of the game, confirmed to Eurogamer that the game has indeed set the series record. Richard Gittins, marketing director for Total War said in a statement given to Eurogamer,

It’s great to see so many people enjoying Total War: Three Kingdoms on launch day! According to our records, it is indeed a record for the series on Steam, and hopefully, as the rest of the world wake up, that number will keep going up.

The latest game in the series of Total War was a long-awaited game that is set in Ancient China and is turn-based kingdom management and real-time warfare in the ancient region.

This beautiful but fractured land calls out for a new emperor and a new way of life. You have to unite China under your rule, forge the next great dynasty, and build a legacy that will last through the ages. Players will get to choose from a cast of 12 legendary Warlords and conquer the realm. Recruit heroic characters to aide their cause and dominate their enemies on military, technological, political, and economic fronts.
