Black Salt Games’ acclaimed indie fishing adventure, DREDGE, is set to captivate players once again with its second expansion, The Iron Rig, launching on August 15th. This new expansion brings a fresh storyline, new fish species to catch, and a host of boat upgrades and gadgets, providing an enriched experience for fans of the game. Revealed by Black Salt Games and Team17 Digital, The Iron Rig will be available on Steam, GOG, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10.
Following the success of last year’s The Pale Reach, The Iron Rig offers players a chance to revisit every area from the base game with renewed purpose. The expansion allows players to collaborate with the Ironhaven Corporation, collecting resources to build a formidable base of operations. This endeavor unlocks new tiers of equipment, abilities, gadgets, and consumables, enhancing the gameplay experience. Notably, this expansion can be initiated at any point during the DREDGE adventure, ensuring flexibility and continuous engagement for players.

As the rig’s drilling operation intensifies, a dark and mysterious substance begins to seep into previously safe areas, transforming them into dangerous zones. Players must navigate these perilous waters, assessing the impact of the substance on local fish species. This exploration unveils peculiar specimens from the abyssal depths, adding over 50 new fish to the game’s encyclopedia. Additionally, the expansion introduces new characters, hazards, world events, and lore, providing a richer narrative and deeper immersion into the game’s universe. Priced at $11.99, The Iron Rig promises to expand the game’s complexity and depth significantly.

Alongside the expansion, Black Salt Games has announced the DREDGE Collector’s Edition, available for pre-order now and set for release in November. This special edition includes the base game and all downloadable content (DLCs), exclusive artwork, a reversible inlay, a 10cm replica of the Sign of Ruin talisman, a double-sided poster, a map, a complete compendium of all fish and their aberrant variants, a message in a bottle from Black Salt Games, and a metal doubloon coin. All these items are housed in a layered box featuring exclusive artwork. The Collector’s Edition will be available in the USA, Europe, and Australasia, priced at 99.99.
