The Disney Afternoon Collection Returns with Updated Edition for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

Atari and Digital Eclipse have announced that The Disney Afternoon Collection is making a comeback with an updated edition launching exclusively on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 26. The new release expands the classic collection to eight games, marking the first time these Disney titles have appeared on Nintendo platforms since their original NES and SNES releases in the late 1980s and 1990s.

Headlining the updated edition are two SNES titles returning after decades away: Bonkers and Goof Troop. They join a lineup of well-known Disney classics, including DuckTales, DuckTales 2, Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers, Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers 2, TaleSpin, and Darkwing Duck. Together, the collection spans platformers, shooters, and cooperative puzzle-driven experiences rooted in the iconic Disney Afternoon era.

A Collection More than a Simple Port

Beyond preservation, the updated collection introduces modern quality-of-life features designed to make these retro games more accessible. Players can rewind gameplay to correct mistakes, save progress at any point, and explore a curated Gallery packed with archival materials from Disney’s vault. A built-in Music Player allows fans to listen to the original soundtracks across all eight titles, while the NES entries also include Time Attack and Boss Rush modes with online leaderboards for speedrunning enthusiasts.

The game lineup reflects a broad snapshot of Disney’s 8-bit and 16-bit history. From Shinji Mikami’s early design work on Goof Troop to Capcom’s genre-defining DuckTales, the collection highlights how licensed games once played a major role in shaping console-era platformers. Cooperative gameplay also features prominently, particularly in Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers, which helped popularize couch co-op during the NES era.

Digital and physical editions of The Disney Afternoon Collection are now available for pre-order. The digital version launches February 26, while physical editions for Switch and Switch 2, including collectibles such as sticker sheets, postcards, milk caps, and a reversible cover, are scheduled to ship in May.
