Limited physical editions publisher Super Rare Games has announced its next release and it is SteamWorld Build. It comes as a partnership with Thunderful and The Station, Super Rare Games has announced that this much-anticipated city-building and dungeon-management crossover will be available starting January 9, 2025.
In SteamWorld Build, you are tasked with creating and managing a thriving town on a dying planet. Combining casual city-building mechanics with dungeon exploration, the game offers a unique challenge: ensure your town’s survival by balancing resources, construction, and the exploration of underground depths in search of salvation.

This exclusive physical edition will be available through Super Rare Games, with a limited supply of just 4,000 Standard Editions for the Nintendo Switch and 2,000 for the PS5. The launch is set for 10 AM PT, so if you want to add one to your collection, you will need to purchase one before the stock runs out and with Super Rare Games, if a game goes out of stock, they are never restocked.
The game features an intuitive city-building system that allows you to easily construct and manage their settlements with simple controls and a user-friendly interface. Alongside managing the surface, you will delve into hand-crafted mines, solving puzzles, and collecting valuable treasures hidden in the depths. But the mines are not without danger—you must be prepared to face lurking threats.
Resource management plays a central role in the gameplay, requiring strategic planning to maintain a productive and thriving community. The game’s charming art style and whimsical characters bring the SteamWorld universe to life, offering a blend of lighthearted aesthetics and engaging mechanics.
For those seeking a tailored experience, SteamWorld Build includes four difficulty levels and multiple maps, both base and themed. The additional themed maps—Jingle Bolts, Dorado Quest, Mechanical Meadows, Crash Site, Steam Wave, Skull Valley, and Steam Fright—promise a variety of challenges and settings for you to explore.
