Revealed during the recent Nintendo Partner Showcase, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on March 18, 2026, marking the most complete and technically refined console release of Mimimi Games’ modern stealth strategy classic.
Developed by Mimimi Games and published by Daedalic Entertainment, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is widely regarded as one of the most influential stealth strategy games of its generation. Inspired by genre pioneers such as Commandos, the game helped revive tactical stealth gameplay for modern audiences when it first launched on PC. Mimimi Games shut its doors back in 2023, with Shadow Gambit as its final release.
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun Announced for Nintendo Switch, Along with Aiko’s Choice
Set during Japan’s Edo period, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun places players in command of a small team of highly specialized operatives. Each character brings a distinct skill set: Hayato’s silent ninja techniques, Takuma’s long-range sniping, Yuki’s traps, Mugen’s raw samurai strength, and Aiko’s mastery of disguise. Missions are designed as dense, hand-crafted sandboxes, encouraging players to study patrol patterns, manipulate sightlines, and coordinate multi-character strategies rather than rely on quick reflexes.

The Nintendo Switch 2 release is slated to be the most complete experience of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. The Ultimate Edition delivers over 25 hours of content across the main campaign and Aiko’s Choice, while Switch 2–specific optimizations include native mouse-mode support for increased tactical precision, improved load times, and polished overall performance. The game runs at 1080p and 30 FPS in handheld mode, with 4K output at 30 FPS when docked.
