Japanese indie game publisher PLAYISM has announced the release of its upcoming twin-stick shooter Metroidvania title Rusted Moss. Rusted Moss will be released in early Q2 2023 and a confirmed release date for the game will be announced closer to its launch. Rusted Moss is an action-packed Metroidvania that is inspired by folktales and desolate landscapes. In Rusted Moss, the human realm has been invaded by Fae, and Fern, a changeling, sets out on a mysterious mission to protect it from the invasion. Armed with an intuitive grappling hook to fly across a hostile land, you will use Fern’s gun to kill mechanical monstrosities that come in your way. The game features desolate landscapes drenched in melancholy as you witness the remnants of humanity and their rusting iron inventions. Humanity is under the invasion of faeries and is on the brink of collapse.
In a desperate bid to save them, humans have empowered their own witches with stolen Fae magic however the humans were deceived as one of them appeared to be someone that is not theirs. The Fae has stolen a human baby and has replaced it with something else which is being raised by human parents. Fern is this changeling whose true loyalties have emerged and now alongside a mysterious share names Puck, has set off on a journey to return Fae to the world and end the Age of Men.

We initially planned to release Rusted Moss in February, but we decided to delay release to allow more time for the developers to polish and perfect the game.
