RuneScape: Dragonwilds Dowdun Reach

Developer and publisher Jagex has released the Dowdun Reach update for RuneScape: Dragonwilds, introducing a new region and progression changes as part of the game’s ongoing development. The update is available now as a free content expansion.

Released last year in April, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a co-op survival crafting game for 1-4 players set in the iconic RuneScape universe. The game is currently in its Early Access phase, and the developer has already shared an ambitious roadmap for 2026. Apart from the currently released Dowdun Reach, another two major updates are planned for further down this year, namely Umbral Sands and Scorned Wilderness. Both updates will bring new regions, tiers, skills, and more to the game.

Dowdun Reach expands the continent of Ashenfall with a new explorable area centered around a cursed fortress controlled by the Black Knight Titan. The region introduces new enemies, environmental challenges, and a maze-like structure that shifts the focus toward more combat-heavy exploration. Alongside the new location, the update raises all skill level caps to 99, extending progression for players continuing to build their characters and refine their playstyles.

The update also adds a new tier of equipment built around Mithril, which can be mined within the fortress and used to craft multiple weapon types, including heavy options such as greataxes and greatswords. Additional gear includes dragonhide armor crafted from creatures found in the region, as well as the introduction of mystic robes, expanding options for magic-focused builds. These additions tie into the broader progression loop, encouraging players to engage in the new area to access higher-tier upgrades.

Beyond gameplay content, dedicated servers are now available through Shockbyte, increasing multiplayer capacity from four to six players. This change supports larger cooperative sessions across the game’s survival systems, which emphasize shared exploration and resource management within Ashenfall.

The update arrives as the game approaches one year in Early Access, with further content already outlined for 2026. Upcoming additions include the Fishing skill, new quests, spells, and decorative items. Dowdun Reach follows earlier updates like Fellhollow and Beyond the Grave, continuing the game’s structured rollout of new content.
