17 Million Red Dead Redemption 2 Copies Shipped in Eight Days

Red Dead Redemption 2

Take-Two has announced in its Q2 report for this fiscal year that is has shipped over 17 million copies of Red Dead Redemption 2 in just eight days. The game was launched on 26th October worldwide and after just eight days, the amount of copies sold is massive.

According to reports, the figure 17 million refers to copies shipped which means that the total number of copies that have been shipped to the retailers, not the customers. Still considering the fact that 17 million copies have left the Take-Two warehouse is a huge number.

When relating this to the previous title in the Red Dead Redemption franchise, this figure is more than what Red Dead Redemption managed in 8 years. This is indeed huge and it has not been even a month since the game’s official release date.

Apart from this, Red Dead Online is also releasing later this month which will cause even more people to jump on board the game. Red Dead Online is Red Dead Redemption 2’s online experience similar to GTA Online and GTA V. Rockstar Games delayed the online of GTA V as well as to give enough time to players to experience the single player game.

Coming to sales, Red Dead Redemption 2 made over $725 million in just the opening weekend which is the most profit any entertainment product has made in the opening weekend. We can already see that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a huge success and if the Online feature of the game is as successful as GTA V’s Online, it is going to be a massive hit.

Since Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently only available on PS4 and Xbox One, PC players are awaiting any source of confirmation relating to a PC release in the future. Rockstar Games released PC version of GTA V after quite some time while the original Red Dead Redemption never came to PC.

Still, PC gamers are hopeful that Rockstar Games will not miss this huge potential market and will give them one of the best games ever made on PC as well. If there is a PC version launch, we can expect that profits for Red Dead Redemption 2 will increase even more and we know that Rockstar Games know this as well.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for Xbox One and PS4.
