Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting a Companion App, No Need for In-Game HUD

Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar Games have announced that they are launching a companion app for the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 which will allow players to completely disable the in-game HUD as all information will be shown on the companion app.

The idea of launching companion apps is not a new thing and they have been out for a large amount of titles since the beginning of the current generation consoles. Most of the companion apps would allow players to do extra activities and do complimentary work for the main game.

However, with Red Dead Redemptions 2’s companion app, Rockstar Games is planning to include everything on the app which is normally shown by the game’s HUD. This includes in-game maps, objective information, weapon information and all sorts of other information that an in-game HUD would normally show you.

The companion app comes with a complete interactive map of the game which will show players their complete surroundings in detail. It will show then General Stores, enemy locations, locations to hide from the law and other points of interests in the game such as safe houses and more.

This will allow players to play the game without any on-screen obstructions. This is the first time that a companion app is allowing this much freedom and first time that a companion app is actually useful. Rockstar Games also launched a companion app for its last title Grand Theft Auto V.

It allowed players to modify their vehicles, train their pet dog Chop and other than that it was not much of a use. With Red Dead Redemption 2’s companion app however, Rockstar Games is planning to change everything and giving gamers a companion app which is indeed worthy of being called a companion app.

The companion app will also allow players to access the in-game map, set waypoints, read Arthur’s journal and access Rockstar Games Social Club making it very useful. However, even if players are using the companion app, turning off the in-game HUD is completely optional and it does not force the players to turn off the HUD.

The companion app will be available to all users who have iOS or Android devices. It is set to launch on October 25, 2018.
