Square Enix’s Recently Announced Project Athia will Also Release on PC

Project Athia

Project Athia was one of the interesting titles that were announced at the Sony PlayStation 5 event by Square Enix. The teaser trailer for the game mentions that it is designed for the next-gen PlayStation 5 console, but that doesn’t mean it is a PS5 exclusive. Square Enix has mentioned that the game will also launch for the PC.

While the trailer does not mention anything that indicates a PC release, it probably made it look like Square Enix’s new studio, Luminous Productions, was developing Project Athia solely to showoff the PlayStation 5 and its graphics running capabilities. There is no denying that the game looks absolutely stunning in the trailer, which clearly mentions that it is being captured from a PlayStation 5 console unit.

There aren’t many details about the game, although we can see from the trailer that it has a female protagonist in a strange world with different kind of monsters and creatures. The places range from a beautiful depiction of ruins, forests, and cliffs that we see the protagonist traversing along.

In a blog post by the director of the game, and the head of studio over at Luminous Productions, Takeshi Aramaki had this to say about the game.

Project Athia is the culmination of our philosophy here at Luminous Productions to create completely new and fresh gaming experiences that fuse together the latest technologies with art. With PS5, our vision truly comes to life, and with Project Athia players can look forward to being transported to a vast and detailed world filled with beauty and dismay.

Project Athia will take you on a thrilling other-worldly adventure – it is going to be action-packed, and at times twisted, tempestuous, and forbidding. It is a journey that we want to feel as much yours as it is our protagonists.

The game is still in development, which is why there aren’t many details nor a release window for it. However, Takeshi ends the blog post by saying that the developers are working on the title to make full use of the PS5 to its potential. He also added that there will be lots to show for the game in the future.
