Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Closed Alpha

After a successful Kickstarter campaign of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Owlcat Games has revealed the closed alpha launch window of the upcoming CRPG. To mark the moment, the developer has also released a new key visual as the Kickstarter campaign of the game comes to an end. During its Kickstarter campaign, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous managed to secure $2,045,339 for its development while managing to hit many of the stretch goals set by the developer.

More than 35,000 backers funded the CPRG based on Paizo’s famous tabletop RPG and the adventure name of the same name. During its successful campaign, the game managed to reach 20 of its stretch goals as well. Owlcat Games has also revealed that pre-orders for the title will go live on the official website of the game later this month. The first closed alpha for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is slated to begin in April 2020 as well.

The new key art released by Owlcat Games showcases the player’s character who has followed the path of a Lich instead of the Angel which was featured in the original key art of the game revealed back in December 2019. Oleg Shpilchevskiy, Head of Studio at Owlcat Games says:

I express sincere gratitude to every backer who has supported us. This Kickstarter campaign was incredibly successful and our team is amazed by the overwhelming support of backers who share our love of Pathfinder. For us, it is essential to communicate with the core players from the early stages of development. We are looking forward to getting the players’ feedback during a closed alpha test in April.

Pre-orders for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous are starting at the end of March 2020 as the dedicated website is currently under development and will go live at the end of this month. All Kickstarter backers will also be able to access their accounts to manage and upgrade their pledges, select different add-ons, receive the digital rewards and edit personal information such as their shipping address.

The site will also offer packages similar to the tiers offered in the Kickstarter Campaign as they will help reach the final stretch goal which was active at the time of the campaign’s completion. With the final stretch goal achieved, Owlcat Games will add a new Hunter class to the game and dinosaurs as animal companions. The closed alpha will be exclusive to Kickstarter backers and all players who pre-order the game from the official website.

The Mythic Lich key visual shared today depicts the evil alternative to the default good Mythic Angel. It evidences how the player’s party can change according to their alignment. One’s choices will determine the companions that will join them on their crusade to reclaim the world from the demonic forces that have invaded it.

Players will have nine Mythic character types to choose from as each character type will offer unique abilities. Choosing a different class with greatly affect the title’s narrative, gameplay and variety of choices as well. These include the benevolent Angel, ravaging Demon, the powerful Lich, the cunning Trickerster, the lawful Aeon, the rebellious Azata, the ruthless Swarm-That-Walks, the Legend and the merciful Gold Dragon.

Players will also get an extremely flexible character-building system with 24 classes to choose from. Each class will come with further 6 archetypes. Nine races are returning from Pathfinder: Kingmaker however this time around, three new races are also coming to the game. Along with these, players will get one new companion, mounted combat, full-scale animal companion progression and many other CRPG features which will really enhance the experience of the game.

Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, many of these new features are now a possibility in the full game. It is because of the stretch goals that the player’s character will have three new romantic interests along with turn-based mode (TBM) and real-time with pause (RTWP) to keep the gameplay as close to the tabletop game as possible.
