Starbreeze launched Overkill’s The Walking Dead Starter Edition and it is already available at PC Steam Store. The starter edition includes all season one content, but it will not include any content of season two.

Seasons in Overkill’s The Walking Dead comprises of missions that become available in the form of episodes. The first episode of season two has just gone live. If you buy Overkill’s The Walking Dead Starter Edition, you will not be able to access it.

The move should be encouraged and more players will now be inclined to play the season one of game first and decide later if they really want to invest more and play season two of the game. In a statement, developer at Overkill mentioned:

One of the most active topics of conversation since launch has been the price. Having read your comments and thoughts about how best to move forward, we’re introducing the Starter Edition

Players who have already owned season two of the game, can invite friends with Overkill’s The Walking Dead Starter Edition to play season two missions with them.

On bright side, the cheaper edition of the game does not restrict you from level progression or level cap. It also does not restrict you to any sorts of progression in the game. So, in future, if developers release a patch, it will be become available for all players simultaneously.
