Rainbow Six: Siege Operation Wind Bastion Launches Tomorrow, Operators Nerfed

Operation Wind Bastion

Rainbow Six: Siege Operation Wind Bastion is coming tomorrow. The servers are expected to shut down for maintenance after 2pm GMT and come back online with the new update after one hour. The update is coming with the new season Operation Wind bastion that will feature two new operators; Nomad and Kaid, and a new map called Fortress.

The update is also coming with both the new operators being nerfed. Nomad’s Airjab gadget has been reworked into a more defensive tool. Previously, the gadget could detonate mid air when fired near an enemy. This made the enemy very vulnerable and a sitting duck as it gave Nomad plenty of time to down the enemy before the enemy could even recover.

The changes made to the Airjab now makes the knockdown grenades only detonate after arming to a surface, and take a full second and a half before priming. Kaid is also being nerfed where 3 of his Eletroclaws are being reduced to 2.

Additionally, other operators are also receiving some buffs where Mute, Clash, Smoke are all going to be buffed this season. Meanwhile, Lesion and Zofia are toned down a little bit. Other changes involve throwable items to have a more predictable follow through.

Here are the changes specific to the operators:

MUTE

SMG-11 has been added as a secondary

Slight increase to SMG-11 Damage

We want to make Mute slightly more attractive as a choice, and make him a bit stronger overall. Giving him additional loadout versatility should meet both of those needs.

CLASH

Electric Damage increased from 3 to 5 damage per tick

With the last few patches, we wanted to make Clash less frustrating to play against. She is now very weak and underpicked, and we anticipate that Nomad will be a hard counter against her. Essentially, we are trying to make her stronger without making her too frustrating to play against.

SMOKE

Slight increase to SMG-11 Damage

Smoke has incredible utility if used properly, but still a bit weak. Mute will also benefit from this change.

LESION

Slight decrease to T-5 SMG

Lesion is currently in a pretty good place, but is just a bit too strong. We are reducing his damage to bring him more in-line with where we would like to see him.

ZOFIA

Reduced the total number of concussion grenades from 3 to 2

Zofia currently has too many projectiles at her disposal, and is able to offer too much utility when compared to her teammates.
