In a recent rumor, the new features coming in the next Nintendo Switch firmware update 6.0 have been leaked and it includes some cool new features. According to the data miners, the update has already been uploaded to the servers and it only awaiting activation by Nintendo and the new features will become available to users around the world.
A thread on Reddit is currently active where these data miners have posted all their findings and people are finding more and more information in the data everyday. The new patch will apparently have new icons, special controller support and a brand new messaging service. This update will also most likely introduce the Nintendo’s paid online service, which is due to launch later this month.
The online service will allow players to play online with their friends, add online save feature and free classic games every month. Cloud save feature is one of the most awaited features for the console as players will be able to safely delete game data from their consoles and will allow them to download save files easily on multiple consoles.
Apart from these features, some new icons are also coming to the console. Rumored icons include Captain Toad, Toadette, Wingo and Draggadon icons. Players will be able to customize their profiles with these new icons.
Coming to the messaging service, according to NintendoSoup, the data miners have revealed that the new update will also bring a messaging service that will allow Switch friends to send messages to each other. This will make sense because a messaging service is a vital feature that should have been included in the firmware from the get-go.
Another great mystery that the data miners have found is some data related to Famicon, NES and SNES controllers in the files. There are some classic controller icons in the update files, which could potentially mean that the player will be able to use classic controllers with the Switch with some sort of an accessory. However, we will have to wait for an official word to be sure about this.
Currently there is no official release date for the upcoming Update 6.0 except for the fact that Nintendo plans it to roll it out at the end of the September 2018. Looks like they might announce it anytime soon or we might get an official date at the ongoing PAX West 2018.
