Firefly Studios has released a brand new trailer from its upcoming strategy game Stronghold: Warlords which reveals all-new siege units that will be featured in the game when it comes out. Siege units have always played a vital role in any Stronghold game as they are vital for laying siege on castles and its thick walls. Stronghold: Warlords is no different however it will feature different types of siege units that belong to the different factions in the game.
Siege units play a critical role in Stronghold: Warlords, however, the developer seeks to balance the newly introduced explosive siege weapons inspired by Chinese, Mongolian and Korean history with fan favorites recreated from the previous Stronghold titles in the franchise. These powerful weapons will allow players to use gunpowder to protect their castle walls and eliminate enemy forces whether they are attacking their castle or are present out in the open.
The three new Siege units revealed by the developer include Fire Arrow Cart, Rocket Launcher and Siege Tower. Check out the new trailer below to see the new units in actions before we dig deep in them.
The Fire Arrow Cart is a powerful addition to any skirmish army as it is excellent against any sort of unarmored units. It can quickly eliminate hordes of Tribesman or clear castle walls of pesky Archers who threaten your advance. This is a highly versatile unit and will play a key role in your battles. The second unit revealed is the Rocket Launcher which is inspired by depictions of winged rockets from 14th-century Chinese texts.
The Rocket Launcher is capable of destroying enemy castle defenses and it is purpose-built for attack rather than defense. It can easily shatter exposed towers filled with Archers or blow apart a gatehouse with a series of surgical strikes. This is one of the most powerful siege units you can lay your hands on in Stronghold: Warlords. You can create them at a Siege Camp or request them from a friendly Dragon Warlord.
The third and the final siege unit revealed is the Siege Tower. This unit is a fan-favorite in the franchise and is making a return in Stronghold: Warlords. Siege Towers latch onto enemy walls and can allow you to land your troops onto the ramparts. Although vulnerable to anti-siege weaponry and heavy units, these Siege Towers are the safest way for your troops to get onto those enemy castle walls and invade the castle.
As the development progress and the game inches closer to its launch, the developer will continue to reveal more siege units as well such as the Fire Lance to Hwacha. These siege units play a vital role in battles and if you are a Stronghold veteran, you will clearly know the importance of these siege units. Firefly Studios has made sure that these siege units are balanced against other units and gunpowder-less siege weapons so give everyone a fair chance at victory.
