Capcom Details Monster Hunter: World Iceborn in Livestream, Gameplay Revealed

Monster Hunter World: Iceborn Weapons

The new Iceborn expansion for Monster Hunter: World is set to launch on September 6, as announced by Capcom. While the release date was announced at Sony’s State of Play livestream, Capcom further detailed what players can expect in the expansion.

The Iceborn expansion is “massive” according to Capcom, and it will feature a new store, a new locale, and new monster for you to battle as well. In addition, Iceborn will also bring back some fan favourites from the previous games that include Nargacuga and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

The expansion will see players traversing to the snowy Hoarfrost Reach, which is also the largest region in the game so far. In this cold and frigid region, players will have to keep themselves warm and survive by consuming hot drinks and bathing in hot springs to counter the cold.

In the Hoarfrost Reach, players will get to fight new creatures like Rime Beetles, Popo and Stonebill, and new insects that are like dung beetles that roll up snowballs. Another neat feature that will be added to the expansion is the Crotos winged creatures that will allow players to traverse easily and to get around in the region.

When talking about the new monsters that will be introduced in the expansion, a new brute wyvern monster called Banbaro will be roaming in the region. This monster likes to pick fights with other monsters and can throw large boulders and trees that he can carry on its horns. Another big monster is Beotodus, which players will have to fight. This monster likes to bury itself deep in the snow. Lastly, Velkhana is a new elder dragon that is has a variety of ice attacks that you will have to counter.

Iceborn will be available digital all players who own the base game Monster Hunter: World. Another digital deluxe edition will also be available but will be sold separately. The price for the expansion is yet to be revealed, though the release date is confirmed for September 6, 2019.
