Publisher Bloober Team and developer Anshar Studios have announced the release date for their upcoming title Layers of Fear. Layers of Fear will release on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on June 15, 2023. In order to get players hyped for the new release, the developer has released a free demo for the game that you can download and play right now on PC via Steam. This playable demo is a limited-timed demo so you will need to hurry up and play it before it goes away forever.
The new limited-timed demo will give you a little sneak-peak into the game as it offers a chilling glimpse into the unsettling world of The Writer, the game’s third and final protagonist. You will explore her story as it serves as a nexus to connect the story threads of the previous installments. Apart from that, the developers have also unveiled the game’s spine-tingling intro cinematic which sets the stage for the psychological terror players will encounter in the game. Layers of Fear is one of the earliest games to utilize the new Unreal Engine 5 for its development.
It will utilize cutting-edge technology, the game supports Ray Tracing, HDR, and 4K resolution which results in heightened visual accuracy, stunning in-game reflections, and overall immersive graphical fidelity. The game also utilizes the Lumen global illumination to achieve eye-catching dynamic lighting, Niagara visual effects to create particle effects in real-time, and Action System Controls to improve the development process and optimization of all gameplay mechanics. Bloober Team first teased the Unreal Engine 5 project back in October 2021, and the game was officially announced later in June 2022. Since then, the developer has been sharing additional information about the game such as the initial release window reveal trailer and the first gameplay preview which was released earlier this year in March. Layers of Fear will now finally arrive on June 15, 2023, on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can download and play the free demo right now on Steam until May 22, 2023.
